I haven't heard that one in a while!
The "pop week" thread reminded me of the following song that I also haven't heard in a while: "Total Eclipse of the Heart," by Bonnie Tyler from Wales. I didn't remember how odd the video is until I just watched it again! I think the video detracts somewhat from the song, which doesn't make me think of back-springing, near-naked dancers and eye-glowing, alien-like people. Still, I feel it is a good heartbreak song of longing because I'm never quite sure if it is a heartbreak song or a song of love. Maybe it is both: Bonnie Tyler - "Total Eclipse of the Heart"

Grandeuristic Euro decadence I can't help it if you think I'm odd, if I say I love you not for what you are, but what you're not A Dylan cover BTW. Last edited by Howard the Duck; 03-29-2011 at 10:19 AM. Reason: left out the "u" in Euro |

Gosh, I've been listening to this song, "I hope this gets to you," by The Daylights, several times after Holly posted it in another thread, and I've really been enjoying it.
I like how personal this love song feels...it is a song about a specific person...and I love how the song feels to me like fireworks look. I also like the shoegaze quality of the song, which sometimes offers a big wash of effervescent sound. And I appreciate that they make the drum beats sound like heartbeats, which are one of the primal aspects of any kind of drum-based rock music, but here the drums are used directly and intentionally to mimic the sound of a heartbeat. Finally, I like its message. The reaching out in the song is very sweet. A short, sweet love song with a cool video. Thank you, Holly984, for bringing this song to my attention (without realizing you were doing so)! I really like it. It gives me chills. The Daylights - "I hope this gets to you" And here's the interesting story behind this love song, which was posted as a surprise for the girlfriend who eventually found it on her Facebook news feed after the video received so many views!

Stevie Wonder...
As ...did You know that True Love asks for nothing Her acceptance is the way we pay... ...did You know that life has given Love a guarantee to last through forever and another day... ...just as time knew to move on since the beginning and the seasons know exactly when to change... ...just as kindness knows no shame know through all Your Joy and pain... ...that I'll be Loving You...always as today I know I'm living but tomorrow... ...could make me the past...but that I musn't fear for I'll know deep in my mind... ...the Love of me...I've left behind 'cause I'll be Loving You...always... |
