Nah, I own WYWH as well, but I like the other three from the Waters era better

10. Blink-182 - Dude Ranch
This was one of the first CDs that I ever owned. My sister was in high school when she got me into listening to them. At the time I wanted to play drums. This album of pop-punk power enthralled me, that lead to a life long passion of music. 9. Unearth - The Oncoming Storm First metal album that I really got into. I was about two years into playing guitar when I picked this CD up. Gave me a lot of motivation to be a shred-machine for my age haha. Wonderful metal album. 8. Led Zepplin: Early Years, Later Years Really got into Zep when I was younger, this compilation was the precursor to my interest in them. Zep speaks for themselves. 7. Anberlin - Never Take Friendship Personal In my post-hardcore/scremo days I was obsessed with this album. Their song writing is top notch in my opinion. This was one of the only albums that I listened to other than metal/hardcore music at the time of my life. It lead to listening to indy music. 6.Death Cab for Cutie - The Photo Booth First DCFC album that I got into. Loved them/indy music ever since. 5. Daft Punk - Discovery First electronic album that I ever heard. Thanks again to my sister showing me only one song that she liked (One More Time) lead to my interest with them. I've been listening to tracks from this cd on a regular basis for about eight or nine years now. 4. Someone Still Loves You Boris Yelstin - Pershing kinda beachy/soft-rock indy music from Missouri. These guys are smooth as the cream ontop of a $6 latte. This band lead me to pay attention to other kinds of indy music including bands like Of Montreal, and Field Music. 3. Modest Mouse - Building Nothing Out of Something Issac Brock and MM are mind-blowing on this cd. Haunting to listen to...in an extremely good way. 2. MF Doom - Operation Doomsday DooM is hands down my favorite lyricist. This is my most cherished hip-hop/rap album in my collection. Nearly flawless album by DooM. 1. Thrice - The Artist In The Ambulance Biggest step in my music life is due to this band. Back when MTV2 still played music videos and you had to have a special cable package just to get it, I stumbled across "All That's Left" music video. It took me like a storm. Thrice is a very diverse band overall. One of my favorites all time for sure. The moment they came into my musical life, I dove deep into the pool of music and information on the internet of bands that I was interested in. Thanks Thrice!

10.) Soft Machine - Fifth
I was given a copy of this album some time ago by a friend, and informed that it was "different" and I probably wouldn't like it. They didn't. I generally trust their musical taste, and didn't really bother to listen to it for a week or so. Finally, I decided to go ahead and pop it into the CD player, and was completely blown away. The song "All White" was all it took to get me completely hooked on the band. Very wonderful album. 9.) The Talking Heads - Remain In Light This album is way up there on my list. It is easily in my top 10 as far as albums I've listened to all the way through the most, and it's a splendid album through and through. 8.) CocoRosie - La Maison de Mon Reve I'm honestly not too sure how I got the album or how I even heard of CocoRosie to begin with. I just know that one day, I was at my computer with a friend who wanted to burn a CD from my library consisting solely of songs with days of the week in the titles. The song "Good Friday" came up, and he asked if it was any good. I told him honestly I'd not listened to it before, so we pressed play to check it out. He was concerned and ultimately underwhelmed with the track. I was ecstatic. It was one of the most interesting things I'd heard from music in a long time. For weeks following, I listened almost exclusively to this album. It still remains one of my favorites. 7.) System of a Down - Toxicity At the ripe old age of 14, I called into a local radio station and correctly answered a trivia question. As a reward, I was given a free copy of an album which had just been released, and that album was Toxicity. As I'd not listened to the most exciting music previously, this album completely blew my mind. It really set me up for a lot of the music I listen to now. 6.) Muse - Absolution My senior year of high school, my grandfather passed away. I'd just gotten my driver's license, and really needed to blow off some steam. My mother asked me to run down to the gas station, and I decided to drive around for a while and listen to a stack of new CDs I'd picked up. I remember that I kept listening to a song or two from a CD, then pulling it out of the CD player and putting in another CD. Nothing seemed to be the "right" CD. Finally, I put in Muse's Absolution. I wound up parking in the parking lot of a Kroger's and listening to the CD on full blast and crying. As such, I will always have a very strong emotional attachment to this album. 5.) Sarah Brightman - Symphony A while back, I was going through a really rough period of depression. Even music sounded completely repulsive to me, and it was just an awful time. One day, I decided to try to listen to music, and skipped through a bunch of songs because I just wasn't feeling it. Finally, I came across a new album still in its packaging I'd gotten for my birthday, which was Symphony. My mother had purchased it for me because she knew that I was a fan of "Phantom of the Opera" for which Sarah Brightman originated the role of Christine Daae, and I'd never even bothered to listen to it before. It turns out, it was the perfect CD. When it got to the title track, I was completely overwhelmed. I still think she has the most beautiful singing voice I've ever heard in my life. 4.) The Polyphonic Spree - Together We're Heavy The summer that I found the guys who are still to this day my best friends in the world, one of the guys insisted on "introducing" us to music his dad had turned him onto. One day, he brought Together We're Heavy into the car, and it quickly became the soundtrack of that entire summer, one of the best times of my life. Everytime I listen to it now, I can't help but smile. 3.) Monster Magnet - Monolithic Baby! The day before my grandfather died, I went to a concert about half an hour away. One of the bands on the bill was Monster Magnet, and at the show I picked up their latest album, Monolithic Baby! I didn't really listen to it for a while, but I did really enjoy the concert. Finally, around November of the year, I listened to the album in its entirety and couldn't get enough of it. I joined the band's forum, and at the time, lead singer Dave Wyndorf was quite active on the forums. He and I often conversed through the forum, and I made my first "online friends". A few of us even began trading CDs, which introduced me to a lot of music. Without this album, I'd certainly not be listening to a lot of the music I listen to now. I was actually introduced to Hawkwind through the CD trade, something I am still extremely thankful for. 2.) Phish - Junta When I was getting into Phish, I was given a copy of this album. They did things with music that dropped my jaw and made me unable to get enough. There was just something really special about them, and I knew it almost instantly. I've met some of my best friends through a mutual love for the band, and without listening to Junta, I feel like I never would have gotten into them as much as I have. Definitely one of the absolute most important albums to me ever released. 1.) Queen - Queen II When I think of a "perfect" album, this is the one that comes to mind. Beginning in 1999, I became a walking Queen encyclopedia. I knew everything about the band, their music, and random useless knowledge which no one really cared about. While System of a Down opened me up to more eclectic new music, this album opened me up to all music. Previously having been a fan of very little "good" music, this album resulted in a major change in the music I listened to. Definitely the most important album to me. |

Good to see Junta on that list. I remember hearing that album, and even though I already had a back-catalog in jam/psychedelic music, that album still was completely unique and refreshing. Great stuff.

Favorites.
I this order.
1. Death- Spiritual Healing. 2. Darkspace- Darkspace II 3. Gorgoroth- Quantos Possunt Ad Satinatatem Trahunt 4. Saturnus- Veronika Decides to Die 5. The Mercury Program- From the Vapor of Gasoline 6. Drudkh- The Swan Road 7. Insomnium- Across the Dark 8. Baroness- The Blue Record 9. This Will Destroy You- This Will Destroy You 10. Death- The Sound of Perserverance So there you go. Those are the albums that have really stuck with me since I got them. Granted, some of them are fairly new, but most of them are rather old and I really do enjoy them. I enjoy Death mainly because they are just a really good old school death/progressive metal band. Chuck is absolutely godlike. The newest Baroness album speaks for itself, at least, as far as I am concerned. Gorgoroth has ALWAYS been a favorite of mine, despite their semi-controversial line up change. And yes, I do hate King and Gaahl. Terrible terrible band mates. I am really into Post Rock and Doom Metal so Saturnus and This Will Destroy You, even though they are my favorites, are a must on any list...concerning Doom and Post Rock, of course. But yea, all in all, my favorite bands. Glad to share.
