The Specials - The Specials
Was the first time I felt the power of the lyrics and how it reflected life at the time as I saw it. Tracks "Too Much too Young", "Concrete Jungle", "Doesn't Make it alright" & others. Interestingly 30 years on the lyrics are still reflective in much of day to day life now. Bob Marley - Survival I'd only really heard commercial reggae at the time as sweet as it still is but Survival opened me up to more harder/rootsy Reggae music Frank Zappa & Mothers - Were only in it for the money. My Dads album originally (long time passed on to me) was the first Trippy album I listened to. As a Kid I felt it Strange, Scary, Funny, Brilliant, ****, ***, and inventive. Today I see it the same. Oasis - Definately Maybe On first listen every single track hit the mark. I still enjoy each of the tracks equally. A wonderful debut that kinda gave British Rock a new lease of life. It was Rock n Roll. The Beatles - 1962 - 1966 All their early hits on one double album helped me see how they progressed as pop stars and inspired a lasting love in me for pop music, which has since receded due to maturity. Pink Floyd - Wish you were Here. An outstanding album and one that includes "Shine on You Crazy Diamond". What an experience. I'll never forget how I felt whilst stoned lay on my floor in my flat as a teenager with the Speakers next to my ears like gigantic Headphones coming into my head. A Haze. on the subject of Haze... Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are you Experienced. An early introduction for me as to how an Electric Guitar can be played by some people. An electric journey with just a squeeze of trippiness. From this I got right into Jimi & Co. Blancmange - Happy Families I became a fan of the Duo for about short while. Away from the guitars they gave my musical journey a new direction. I met them and both band members signed all my records and were lovely guys. They put us both on Guest list for Manchester Apollo Gig in early 80's. Top fellers. This is a treasured album although I don't listen to it much now. The Tarrantino Connection - Compilation Soundtrack Album Love his films and as a Selecter his tunes in those films always please. So much variety on this album. Love - Forever Changes This album allows me to drift into hippydom anytime I play it. I love it. |

10. Argus - Wishbone Ash
Only a very recent discovery, but it really amazed me. 9. Sticky Fingers - The Rolling Stones Pretty much heard this my entire life with no choice. 8. Everybody Knows this is Nowhere - Neil Young Another one I grew up on. As its songs receive less attention than Sticky Fingers I prefer it more. 7. Strange Days - The Doors There's a mysteriousness I love about the songs on this album. When I think of The Doors, it's this album that comes to mind. 6. You Could Have it So Much Better - Franz Ferdinand A really great band and album in comparison to a lot that's out these days. It hooked me the first time I heard it and because of it I haven't completely lost faith in the future of rock music. 5. The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd A really great work of art if you ask me. 4. The fourth Led Zeppelin album Minus Stairway which I just skip, all of the songs are favourites of mine. I love the riffs and sounds on this album. 3. Wheels of Fire - Cream Cream does amazing things to me and this is them at their best if you ask me. 2. Ramones Mania - The Ramones The first album I bought with my own money. I usually hate compilation albums, but it really doesn't matter with the Ramones. It has all their best songs and there was a time I listened to it on loop all day. 1. Diamond Dogs - David Bowie Certainly wasn't his best musically, but it really showed me how amazing rock music. It was what seriously got me into music. |

Hmmmm.....
1. Pretty Hate Machine - Nine Inch Nails 2. The Dresden Dolls - The Dresden Dolls 3. The Listening - Lights 4. Angels Fall First - Nightwish 5. Mad Season - Matchbox Twenty 6. In Our Bedroom After the War - Stars 7. Dummy - Portishead 8. Adore - Smashing Pumpkins 9. Turquoise and Crimson - VAST 10. OK Computer - Radiohead ......and I left out many other albums I really, REALLY adore......maybe top 20 would have been more accurate. But many of these have been absolute favorites for YEARS, and so that's why I included them. I think that newest one off of it is The Listening by Lights, but I have listened to that album so much since it's play count is ridiculous. |

10. Arcade Fire "Funeral"
9. Kings Of Leon (Because of the Times" 8. Bruce Springsteen "Born to Run" 7. U2 "War" 6. Muse "Absolution" 5. Arctic Monkeys "Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not" 4. Blur "Modern Life Is Rubbish" 3. Radiohead "Kid A" Had to put one Radiohead album in this list and to be honest it was almost impossible to choose but I have plucked for Kid A just because of the sheer audacity of the album and how experimental it is. Idioteque is one of my favourite songs and Eveything in It's Right Place is just exceptional one of the songs I need to see performed live before I die 2. The Killers "Sam's Town" This probably seems very weird to most but the album was released when my Dad was stuck in hospital for a few months because he had broken bones in his back (fine now) but at the time every time I travelled to the hospital I listened to this album and it is just unbelievable and it brought me so much strength at the time. I know it is quite weird because it isn't really the sort of album that you would relate to that kind of feeling but it is just perfect 1. Interpol "Turn on the Bright Lights" "It's up to me now to turn on the bright lights", this line comes from the track NYC and sums this album up brilliantly. A unbelievable debut album with great guitar hits like "Obstacle 1" and slow and beautiful tracks like "Leif Eriksson". My Favourite album to date! |

I LOVED Turn on the Bright Lights, but the thing that pisses me off most about interpol is that they've never quite produced anything as good as it... very frustrating, because it feels as though they have so much potential as a band / songwriters...

Damn, this is going to be tough.
1. Saliva's Weight of The World I really got into music when I listened to these guys,I discovered them when i listened to their "Always" on the Radio, then I wanted more. 2. Shinedown's Sound of Maddness I also found these guys through the radio Their "Devour" got me hooked on them for the rest of my life. 3. RED's End of Silence Some of the most lyrical, and best guitar beats I have ever heard. His voice matches along with the music and he can be Hard Rock, then Soft Rock in a few seconds. One of my favorite songs in history is their "Breathe Into Me".I heard of them watching a AMV of Gundam 00. 4. The Letter Black's [i]Hanging on By A Thread Best female singer I have ever head, hell I can ever listen to the soft music for once, and not get tired of it. 5. 5 Fingered Death Punch's War is the Answer The only Metal band I have ever liked in my life so far. I love almsot all the songs on the disk, and the Metal ones of course ![]() 6. Nickelback's Dark Horse These are some of the guys who got me into Rock also,I love their music ever since I listened to their Album All The Right Reasons. To their very dirty songs,to their sensitive songs,I love them. 7. Skillet's Collide Just like RED.Some of the most lyrical music I have ever heard. I have never heard a Christian Rock band sound as good as this.I especially love their song "Hero",and "Collide". 8. Disturbed's Indestructible Oh boy,a lot of memories right here. I listened to some of their past music, but this is the only Album I bought of them. I love their Hard Rock and their guitars, the lyrics just give you a lot of energy. 9. Theory Of A Deadman's Scar's and Souvenirs This album is full of laid back Rock, and some really emotional stuff. I like these guys because they sing a song describes my life which is of course "I Hate My Life".It's like they know me. 10. Linkin Park's Hybrid Theory First band that I ever got into the Rock music I listened to today. This is the reason I put them on here. I don't listen to the much though anymore. |
