I'll elaborate.
10. Britney Spears - Toxic Introduced me to pop. Plus she's so classy and f***in hot. 9. Nickelback - Any Album By Them My favorite alternative rock band. I was getting bored with it all until I discovered them, I love how they bring a new original sound with each song. 8. Manowar - Kings of Metal The title says it all. Plus, what could be better than going to a concert to see a bunch of big burly dudes in tight leather clothes with armor and weapons for props? These guys are the best out of the power metal bunch. No contest. 7. Vanilla Ice - Hard to Swallow If it weren't for this album, I wouldn't listen to rap today. 6. Korn - Untouchables One of the albums that will go down as a classic from the early '00s. Master of nu metal, a favorite of mine. 5. Limp Bizkit - Results May Vary They do one of the best covers of all time on this album, the Who's Behind Blue Eyes. This guys make it at least 15 times as good. 4. Metallica - Reload The only thing in their discography ever worth listening to, besides the original Load. 3. Oh No Not Stereo - 003 Oh my god the best indie band ever! They just blew away everyone else at SXSW... I would have paid $85 just to see them, they're that good. They're so much better than all those stupid generic indie bands out there, I really understand why these guys became so famous. They'll be the next Led Zeppelin. 2. Breathe Carolina - It's Classy Not Classic OMG these guys are so good! I had the fortune of going to one of their concerts with my sister because she needed someone to drive her, and I discovered one of my favorite bands ever! Their live show was so amazing, hands down best concert I've ever been to... they even covered Hannah Montana, and did it better than her! 1. The Jonas Brothers - Jonas Brothers These guys are like Backstreet Boys and nsync but much much better. This is my favorite album at the moment, and it gets most influential spot for enouraging me to go back and check out all of the Backstreet Boys, Nsync, and so on albums that I hadn't heard. They led me to discover a lot of my favorite music. So hardcore, rock on Jonas Brothers! There's a bit of insight into what I listen to. |

Haha well someone found it funny. I was very bored today at work. Now, to be honest,
10. Velvet Underground - The Velvet Underground & Nico Got me interested in noise music, this was really my introduction to it. I heard this a few times when I was pretty young from some relative, but didn't actually get the album until years after that in high school. 9. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless This is the album that sparked my interest in shoegaze, and proved just how amazing tons of layered, distorted guitars could be. 8. Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here Really thinking back, this may be the first album I listened to straight through; possibly as early as 3rd or 4th grade. I don't think it really sank in for a few years though. 7. Blink 182 - Buddha I loved this one back in middle school and maybe even as early as 6th grade. Not a fan of Blink-182 too much these days (though I will admit, this still gets the rare spin). I preferred the rawer unpolished sound of Buddha to their later records like Enema of the State. 6. Green Day - Kerplunk I maintain to this day that Kerplunk is one of the most underrated albums of all time. I know I've ranted about this on here a few times, but it really is a good punk album. I find it depressing most people don't know they existed before Dookie. I got into this after I started listening to Blink. 5. Opeth - Blackwater Park I turned into quite the metalhead for a little while in high school... nearly everything I listened to for that time was metal. Then, I found Opeth, and heard Blackwater Park. Turned me on to jazz influenced music, and also got me back into alternative when I realized songs like Harvest were some of my favorites from the album. 4. Nirvana - In Utero Fantastic hard rock as it was intended. 3. The Pixies - Surfer Rosa The first Pixies album I heard, and it showed me just how different alternative could be than anything I had heard before. 2. Jimi Hendrix Experience - Are You Experienced? This was the first Jimi Hendrix album I ever heard. I remember being in complete awe to the sounds he could make with his guitar. I still am today. I saw somewhere (can't find it now) where U2 was playing and 'The Edge' or whatever that douche's name is played his riff with and without the pedal. The first that crossed my mind was that he was playing over 40 years ago, with no pedals or any of that. He didn't need them. 1. Neutral Milk Hotel - In the Aeroplane Over the Sea This album entirely changed my concept of what a modern album should sound like. Completely unique, and nothing like it ever has or will be done. Ever. Dinosaur Jr - You're Living All Over Me and Pavement - Slanted and Enchanted probably should have been on the list, with a host of others, but I don't want to put that much thought into it. |

I was just listening to this earlier today. It, too, opened me up to new genres of music. Opeth has progressed as a band and their music has somewhat evolved, but ultimately, I find myself listening to them because of the familiar atmosphere it provides. It's nothing I could handle everyday, but I tend to revisit from time to time. My favorite from the album is "Bleak". |

In no special order and a mish mash of styles and I`ve probably forgotten some stuff that should be on here.
Nirvana "Nevermind" The Beatles chucked in with hard rock, punk and Indie mixed up in the liquidizer and comes out Kurt Cobain. Simply blistering from start to finish. Doors "The Doors" One of the great all time debut albums and showcases Jim Morrison`s vocal prowess to the max. Led Zeppelin "Led Zeppelin" Led`s debut album is what hard rock is all about, sadly they would make nothing as bluesy as this again. Beatles "Abbey Road" A breathtaking look at the individual styles of each Beatle as they go for broke. King Crimson "Red" The group`s best line up and one of the most intense albums I`ve ever heard. Radiohead "The Bends" Hauntingly brilliant and an album to make me sad. Deep Purple "Machine Head" Love the Mk.2 line up and its one of those classic albums recorded under great duress and of course....Ian Gillan on vocals. Yes "Close to the Edge" The awesome title track says it all really. Jimi Hendrix Experience "Are You Experienced?'" You know! Again this is what it`s all about. David Bowie "Low" The highlight of Bowie`s stuff with Eno, simply brilliant. Hahahahahahahaha and now the reeeeeeally good list. Sepultura "Roots" Thrash/Groove metal mixed in with Brazilian tribal rhythms and the sonic savagery of Max on vocals, says it all. Cars "The Cars" I love this album so much, that I can put it on at any time and it still sounds great. Still love Moving in Stereo to this very day.. Cheap Trick "Cheap Trick" The Trick at their rawest and most exciting. Monster Magnet "Spine of God" A Jimi Hendrix meets Jim Morrison affair. Megadeth "Rust in Peace" Dave Mustaine at his manic best. Slayer "Seasons in the Abyss" The culmination of Slayer. Toto "Toto IV" Hey!!! I love American west coast rock and especially Bobby Kimball and David Paich etc. Styx "The Grand Illusion" Breathtaking display from Dennis, Tommy and James. Alice Cooper "Welcome to my Nightmare" My all time favourite record by Alice. Toto "Isolation" Yep!!! it`s Toto again, but this one`s got Fergie Fredriksen on vocals. |

This isn't the same thing as Top 10 of all time.
10.Beastie Boys-Paul's Boutique.Broadened my horizons no end. 9.The Smiths-Hatful Of Hollow. Kept me sane in the grim teenage years. 8.Pavement-Crooked Rain,Crookef Rain. Soundtracked a year of chaos. 7.Franz Ferdinand-S/T Album that got me into music in the first place. 6.The Stone Roses-S/T Made me into a music snob 5. REM-Automatic For The People Never felt such genuine emotion whilst listening to a record before this one 4. Modest Mouse-Good News For People Who Love Bad News Exposed me to a world of music that wasn't stuff people have generally heard of. 3. The National-AlligatorArticulated loneliness and desperation so unimaginably well it instantly became a favourite. 2. David Bowie-The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy StardustA record of pure unadulterated joy at a time when I needed it. 1. Whipping Boy-Heartworm Whenever I have women problems, this puts it all very much in perspective as the adolescent whining it is compared to the real thing. |
