That's right, prepare for albums that will blow your mind. I ditched the Crowquill 100 for this.
The Magnetic Fields "69 Love Songs" ![]() I've been listening to this album nearly non-stop all week and I think it could now be my favorite set of albums ever. Stephin Merritt writes some of the most incredible lyrics ever (The tears have stained all the pages of my True Romance magazines / We still dance in my outrageously beautiful Busby Berkeley dreams / And now you want to leave me for good / I refuse to believe you could / You forget we're not made of wood / Well, darling you may do your worst, because you'll have to kill me first.) and his vocals are a haunting mixture of Johnny Cash and Ian Curtis, which is a pretty good summary of the music itself too. Combining folk tendencies withsynth-pop with tons of other things in there 69 Love Songs is a masterpiece. Favorite Songs: All My Little Words, Absolutely Cuckoo, I Don't Want To Get Over You, I Think I Need a New Heart, My Only Friend, Promises of Eternity, Papa Was a Rodeo, Epitaph For My Heart, Asleep and Dreaming, I Shatter, Busby Berkeley Dreams, Long-Forgotten Fairytale, (Crazy For You But) Not That Crazy MySpace.com - The Magnetic Fields - New York, US - Rock / Pop - www.myspace.com/themagneticfields |
