Having Weezer and Bush on any Top 50 list destroys the credibility of said list IMO.

![]() uhhhh,.....how can you not love a band with a 9 fingered banjo player? i used to be a total deadhead,.....back in my hootie smokein days,.....i still get in the grove from time to time,....but really i think what the greatful dead had to offer was a 'movement',.......ever been to a dead show? there's such a sence of 'family' with dead fans,......young and old alike,.....plus the opened the door for and influenced some of the greatest musicans of our generation,.... cut the dead some slack y'all,......

I think the Grateful Dead were the Timothy Leary of music, more than the Beatles or Jimi Hendrix.
When I think Grateful Dead, I think Bill Walton, reminiscing about the times of old, when it was cool to be free, and let the music take you where you wanted to go. The Grateful Dead's sound really symbolized freedom, their music says more for the hippie generation than probably any other band, except possibly Dylan. I just get visions of tye-dye intertwined with Jerry Garcia's long curly flowing mane, and spirit, and have the feeling it's okay to be whoever you want to be. |

THere were like maybe ten bands on there that actually deserved to be on a list of 50 greatest bands. The rest were horrible. And the Greatful Dead weren't that great either
