Solo, I'd say the Idiot or Lust For Life. I've heard New Values is meant to be great too, but I don't have that one myself. As for the Stooges, any of the first three albums Iggy did with them. I can get you a link or two, but you'll have to bear with me for a day or so before I can.

Lust for Life is a little tame but his first three albums with the Stooges are ****ing stellar. Fun House is pretty bitchin'.

I've never really gotten into Iggy's solo stuff so I'm not exactly the most helpful when it comes to evaluating his solo stuff. All I can say is The Idiot was a huge let down for me after I'd heard so much about it but maybe I should dig it out again. Fun House however is spectacular. I like the first 3 Stooges album but that one is head and shoulders above for me.
