No one really talks about Beatles in terms of their talent, with the exception of the common opinion that Lennon was a good songwriter. They were a pivotal pop band, and believe it or not, their influences go beyond and into your realm of music.
BTW, bands like metallica, guns and roses, korn, good charlotte, blink 182, and the other bands you have mentioned are indeed very radio friendly, and I find it hard to believe that you enjoy music from these bands and find the beatles to be overrated. Talk about "mediocre" bands- the bands you named are less than mediocre.

the beatles are over-rated. Harrison was the most talented in my opinion out of the 4.
(nothing against the others, even Ringo has influenced music today. I think they were at the right place at the right time, most of their earlier work was just covers of american blues/rock, but nobody wanted their white teenage girls to listen to the black artists....so the beatles get a break, blow up and all the white girls loved them.) This is just my thoughts on the beatles popularity, afterall there were better musicians before and after them that didnt get the amount of play that they did.

^ no I'd agree, they didn't start anything new but they did make it more mainstream, and the beatles at least created a lot of things that were built on by artists who came later on. I'm not doubting their talent in the least, my first post makes that more than apparent, but I am saying that both seem to have a following of listeners that don't really value them for their talent, but because these bands have a sort of cult following built up after their huge success.
