Of course, we all remember that great "**** a dog" song by blink 182 that is on capital FM as we speak rumoured to be resung by the Queen herself. Oh and Good Charlottes "No Dad" which for 3 and a half minutes utterly cusses their fatehr for walking out on them. Id like to know which radio station this is.

lest you forget 4/5 of their other material that is continously played on the radio. you give 1 song from each band as an example.

Well if were saying that then surely any band is radio friendly if any of their songs are played on the radio. so, guns'n'roses, metallica, **** even korn are radio-friendly material i am told.
My original point still stands, The only good thing to come out of the beatles was an aspiring singer by the name of "Ozzy"....
Music today is so corrupt with money and the amount of editing that gets put in, in 20 years i wouldnt be surprised if were are listening to electronica. Still, better that than britney spears i suppose.

not all music is corrupt and full to the brim with studio electronics. a lot of music hyped by the media is yes, and some bands even use electronics in a progressive format (mars volta, radiohead etc), theres a lot of underground music thats fresh and raw (the garage rock scene) yet nobody knows of some of these bands because they are not commercialised in the way the punk-pop and nu metal bands are.

Exclamation

i am aware of these bands, as my colleague spencer who i feel is a better drummer than most of the cheeky ****ers that get into the business today is part of a band playing just for the thrill of it.

and you know what really pisses me off, R.A.T.M, yea i loved their music, wow they had an amazing message, then i find out they were charging $50 a ticket to their shows when all this time theyd been singing about commercialism and how money corrupts fragile people, sickening,

It is a simple premise that, the beatles music could be played by anyone that could pick up a guitar. Of course simplicity is not always fatal but in this case, i fail to see the attraction of such a MEDIOCRE band, I realise this post will cause controversy but, seriously, the word "over-rated" has never been so apt.
Wow there are so many ignorant statements in this post I dont even know where to start. First of all, your statement about them starting the decline of "you generation's radio friendly artists" is rediculous. I'm guessing you're in your early teens, so the beatles were WAY before your generation. They started the movement away from mindless music with no personality. I'd be really interested how the hell you came up with that conclusion, because I can't see any grounds that makes your statement even somewhat valid. As to them having no talent, well that just shows that you're either very uninformed, or just don't know a lot about music. They're music is very simple yes, but that was their style of playing, and it's no wonder why their music is the way it is. Look at the music coming out at the time the started, you wont see any musical accompaniment any more complex than what they played. Now on to their actual musical ability. I'm guessing you either don't know anything about playing bass guitar, or havent bothered to look, because a lot of the bass lines mccartney played were very complex, not to mention the fact that he sang at the same time. I have a friend who's been playing the bass for 8 years, and he still tells me that mccartney wrote some of the most rediculously complex bass lines he's seen. The guy had talent, no doubt about it. Lennon was an extraordinary lyricist, and a lot of his lyrics were very deep, I've written a ton of posts explaining how his lyrics were more than "dippy love songs" as many uniformed users on this board have called them, so I don't really feel like writing it all out again. However, if you really want me to, I'll be happy to set you straight. On to harrison, he wasn't made a member of the Traveling Wilbury's for nothing. The guy had amazing style and skill, and just as people drew from what hendrix started, they also copied george. So go learn about playing the bass and the guitar, read up on the members, basically just inform yourself some more, and then come back and discuss the matter some more.

Lennon and McCartney fair enough, let it be was a good song, and Imagine was an anthem. However the beatles themsselves were so overrated for their talent. I can understand people liking them but my original point was to how overrated they were for such a mediocre band. My friend can play the bass tracks after 3 years so your mate needs to either give up or learn a bit faster.
