I love this bootleg. This was recorded for the radio while touring for his New Values album (also my favourite). He has a killer backing band with him including Glen Matlock of the Pistols , Brian James of The Damned & Ivan Kral of the Patti Smith Band. The stage is falling apart , there's some guy in the audience getting him more & more pissed off, in short this is an amazing gig. There are a few sound problems but once you get used to it you'll warm to it.
And you get a Kinks cover too, what more could you want?
I play this at least 3 or 4 times a week ... it's THAT good.

A lot has been said about the final gig of their American tour at the Winterland when Lydon decided he couldn't be bothered anymore, but this gig was the opening gig of the tour & a totally different kettle of fish.
Starting off their tour in that punk rock hotbed of Atlanta (Genius booking by MacLaren) This is the first chance American audiences got the chance to see what all the hype was about. Lydon spends most of the gig putting himself and the rest of the band down at ever opportunity 'Seen the fine upstanding young men Britain's chucking out these days?' . Vicious wants to goad the crowd by randomly shouting 'hi yaaaaaaaalllll' in the most sarcastic manner possible. You can hear a girl in the crowd complaining John spat at her, Lydon announces the riot squad has turned up, Vicious wants to know if he can have the sheriff's hat.
I love this gig.

3 Reasons why you should download this gig.

1. It's their hometown gig and they're really up for it
2. Denise Johnson is still in the band at this point and her vocals give a whole new dimension to their sound. Primal Scream never sounded so soulful.
3. Their version of Don't Fight It, Feel It included here gives me an orgasm every time I hear it.

^ 3 great-looking ones there. That's my weekend sorted

I'd contribute a link or two myself, but without littering this thread with more David Bowie bootlegs, all the more interesting ones I've already posted in my journal and Elvis Costello thread.

Another in the continuing series of bootlegs I listen to on a weekly basis. This was recorded for radio so it's of a very high quality.

Ta muchly *yoinks*

Just out of curiosity, are there many good quality boots hanging around, and if so are there many essential ones that haven't already been issued on CD either with the Sanctuary reissues or separately?

edit: and by 'good' quality I mean of Totale's Turns standard

There's quite a few that i've managed to get hold of

JBs, Dudley : 1st Sept 1979
Stuff from the first 2 albums sound quality is a bit muddy but just as good as anything on Total's Turn

City Gardens, Trenton, New Jersey : 12th June 1981
There's a story behind this one. Apparently they were recording gigs for what would become the Part Of America Therein E.P. Some girl asked the sound guy for a copy of the gig so he ran her off a cassette.Years later a Fall fan came across the tape & put it on the net. There's a part of it where someone's accidently recorded over the tape but it's only for a couple of seconds. This is probably the best recorded Fall boot you'll find anywhere.

Victoria University, Wellington : 08 Sept 1982
I think they used some of this gig for the re-issued Fall In A Hole live album.
Quality is pretty much the same as that album.

Arena, Rotterdam : 12th Feb 1983
Concord Bar, Brighton : 27th October 1983
Madison, Middlesbrough : 1st Nov 1983

3 gigs featuring mostly stuff from Perverted By Language. The Brighton one is the best, the Rotterdam one isn't quite as good but is perfectly listenable. and the Middlesbrough one is there should you want any more from that era.

Agora Ballroom, Columbus, Ohio : 1st Apr 1985
You won't find a better Nations Saving Grace era boot than this one.

Huddersfield Polytechnic : 19th Nov 1986

This is only an audience recording but it's a pretty decent one

John Peel's 50th Birthday, Subterrania, London : 29th Sept 1989
Recorded for radio obviously they only play 7 songs but unusually they play stuff covering their whole career.

I've not really come across anything after that which hasn't already been released officially.
