hello, I am new to this part of the internet and have been out of the new music scene for a while. I have never joined a forum so if this is strange i apologize. I have been listening to the same records/cds for years now and need a change. Any suggestions as to where to start with modern jazz, old and new hip hop and blues? thanks.

You probably just wanna start with the "essential" hip hop albums: N.W.A. "Straight Outta Compton", Public Enemy "It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back", Dr. Dre "The Chronic", Wu-Tang Clan "Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)", Nas "Illmatic", 2Pac "All Eyez On Me", Ultramagnetic MC's "Critical Breakdown", A Tribe Called Quest "The Low End Theory" and Eric B and Rakim "Paid in Full".

Lol hip hop....
I'd start with just like, rock/hip hop/r&b... like, Gwen Stefani, Pussy-cat dolls, Nelly Furtado, All american rejects, Fall out boy, Paramore, Kanye west, Fergie(lol) .... nothing wonderously inspiring and great, but a good place to start... not completely "new" either... -shrug- |
