Gold Panda, Bonobo and The National
Really liking the new Gold Panda album, think he's doing a similar thing to what Four Tet and Caribou have done in recent years by making a more dancefloor friendly album. Similar thing going on with the new Bonobo album for that matter!
Hands down fav album of the year so far is the new National album, it's a grower like the others but it seeps into your consciousness. |

The Sound - Jeopardy (1980) I really do think The Sound are one of the better post-punk bands from the late '70's/early '80's and as far as debut albums go they really bring a lot to the table with this. I still think From the Lions Mouth is the better album, but I enjoy the more punk rock edge with this one and it feels a bit more uplifting, although I think their skirting the black pit of despair and loneliness is what really makes them standout. I know a lot of other people have been enjoying this album, and if you're a fan of Joy Division or other post-punk bands from that time period but haven't heard of The Sound, you should definitely go back and check out their discography. |
^ I got around to listening to From The Lions Mouth and it's just as good. It seems to have a different vibe to Jeopardy, a less aggressive and more melancholic vibe. They're both incredible albums but I may still prefer Jeopardy.
