Cold War Kids - Dear Miss Lonelyhearts (2013) Apparently I missed this while I was living under the rock that is preparing for semester finals when this was released in April. Really enjoying it, it's vastly different from the CWC albums I know and love, but in a thoroughly diggable way. Looking through Spotify I apparently also missed their 2010 release, Mine Is Yours. That's next on my list, then. |

The Desoto Caucus - Offramp Rodeo (2013) Americana group from Denmark whose members have toured & recorded with Howe Gelb & Giant Sand. Musically I'm reminded of Lambchop or Phosphorescent though lyrically I can tell the influence of Howe Gelb. Stand-out tracks so far: "Leaving Odessa", "OCB", "Polaris" and "Full Moon". |

I expected a fairly typical folksy-singer-songwriter type album, and while is absolutely is it also definitely is not. I see myself binging and then forgetting about this one, but at the moment it's just what I want. |

Death Dealer - War Master (2013) A lot of people have been hailing this particular monster as the second coming of NWOBHM-styled power metal (tinged with a fair amount of other influences as well), and I'm not really in much of a position to disagree. It's a sonic bulldozer with some tasty production to match! Shineback - Rise Up Forgotten, Return Destroyed (2013) A fascinating blend between modern electronic music (dubstep, glitch, dance-oriented house, etc.) and also contemporary progressive rock. Think Depeche Mode meets Frost*. Kind of a grower, but a lot of fun too.

Vibes, Love and Revolution
- Fear Nuttin Band Really really loving this album, Fear Nuttin keeps their heavy metal and rock roots reggae blend superbly. This album has a little more of a easy living vibe, with more mellow tracks than heavy, but they can really be creative with their sound and throw a lot of surprises at you. my fave tracks would be Just Your Love, Senseless and Herbalize The Nation

What about when part two comes out though?
