This is a good example of why I love sites like turntable and plug.dj - it's very likely I would never have heard this album had it not been for Pedestrian suggesting it to me after getting a sense of what I like to listen to (read: melancholic psych folk), and further, had it not been for my trust in her taste and recommendations after consistently enjoying the music she plays. Pitchfork apparently adored the shit out of this album back in 2001, and although the reviews on that site cause eyerolls so dramatic they hurt I have to agree with their glowing praise. It's a fucking great one.
Great, great album there! It was definitely on a very regular rotation for me back in the early 00s.

Something about Phil Elvrum just screams "WOLVERINEWOLFSTEPHPIGEON" to me.

Torres - Torres (2013)

I am starting to listen to a few new releases and this is one of my faves. Slowcore, singer/songwriter, indie rock kind of shizz and it's cool. Really sweet voice, enticing/brooding musicianship and some decent lyrics.

Still one of my favourite albums ever after all these years.

I'm playing this now, not sure what I think. It is precisely "melancholic psych folk" and I shouldn't expect anything different. Maybe it's not ideal for this Monday.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Lindstom - Where You Go I Go Too

Norwegian nu-disco/deep_house. Three lengthy bangers (insofar as nu disco can be bangin') averaging about 17 minutes apiece, with spacy synths and and an overall presentation that strongly reminds me of Luomo's microhosue from the the turn of the century

Jesper Ryom - Syvsover

I cannot get enough of this EP. Danish tech/deep_house that occasionally has jazzy tendencies (sax on It's So)... ssuuuppperr chillout

Baths - Obsidian

Really dug this when it came out and am rediscovering it again now (and listening to via youtube in tinychat).

Seconding this endorsement. Really chill, refreshing, poignant stuff here.
