Yeah, which to be honest as been all their albums. I've never cared for their self-titled debut much, but maybe if I give it a few more listens I'll grow on it. I just wish they would release something that really grabs you on the first listen and holds your attention for the entire thing.
I can definitely see why you put it at #2 on your Best of 2013 list, it will easily find its way onto my list, somewhere within the top 5. |

His Hero Is Gone Fifteen Counts of Arson I've listened to this several times (as well as other HHIG records), and have come to the conclusion that this is one of my favorite sludge affiliated bands out there, even though most of the time they're quite a bit more crust punk that sludge. Doesn't matter though, they rock. King Tubby The Late Great King Tubby This is a comp, but it is a truly incredible one. Tubby had an output that is downright frightening to look at, but this really gives you a handle of it. I've been listening to this comp in bits and pieces for weeks now... literally. I don't know a lot about reggae, but Tubby is definitely one of my favorites now.

The Heliocentrics - Out There (2007) I've been digging their new one 13 Degrees of Reality but it made me revisit their first album. Damn, it's really a shame I didn't listen to this more when I first discovered it. I've played it as many times since hearing their new one as I did prior to that. Which is to say, twice each time, but it deserves many more listens than that. It's a fantastic blend of Nu Jazz, Jazz Funk, Acid Jazz, and Instrumental Hip-Hop to an extent. Cool vocal samples here and there, just a really laid back and funky trip. I think it's fair to say that no matter how much I was impressed with 13 Degrees of Reality, I like this one better. I might have to bump my rating from 4 to 4.5. It can get a little long sometimes depending on what you're doing, but if you've got time and the attention span, it delivers. A few comments from RYM reviewers that I find accurate: Quote:

Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience I overplayed this to shit when it came out and eventually ended up getting tired of it. Returned recently and I remembered how much I loved it. Seriously fucking awesome.
