The Sound - Jeopardy (1980) A brilliant post-punk album, dark and melancholic but passionate and catchy as hell at the same time. The way the keyboards are used really add another dimension to the music and give it a distinct sound. How I haven't listened to these guys before I don't know. |
I've been meaning to get that one, I love From The Lion's Mouth and I think they're one of the more underrated post-punk bands from the late '70's/ early '80's.

They really knew how to utilize the post-punk sound and aesthetic to do some really good moody pieces. This is my favourite song off that album,

I loved that, the slow bits remind me of Echo & The Bunnymen at their darkest.

Pale Green Ghosts - John Grant Really great out of left field record I heard about a few days ago. Sorta sounds like Beck if he took an electronic path. Lyrics are great too. |

ENSEMBLE PEARL - S/T I like this a lot. It's another collaboration between members of Sunn O))) and Boris and some other guy, and I'd say it's much, much better than Altar. Sure, it doesn't have another Akuma No Kuma, but it is really atmospheric and apparently it's influenced by early tangerine dream and surf rock. I wouldn't call it a drone metal album, as it's more in the vein of what Earth's been doing recently, but it's certainly drone. Waves of Eyvind Kang's violas and stephen's titanic guitar crash at the shores of this great, atmospheric album. worth the listen, 9/10 |
