I will play an album to hell and back, fearlessly. I don't see the point in trying to ration my enjoyment of something. If I tire of an album, I leave it for a couple of years, and when I put it on at the right time, it's still great. There's always something else around the corner.

The doses you listen to an album are dependent on yourself but, as you said, there comes a time when you put it to one side. Ending up hating an album that you previously loved purely through over-playing it (however many times that takes for you personally) seems like a bit of a shame to me.

Just don't think about it too hard, buddy.

Grateful Dead - American Beauty

I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this, but a friend at work and I were discussing it, and I put it on again. I really don't know that I'd really listened to it in depth since I stopped smoking trees, but it's really gorgeous even without.

Full album. Youtube quality, but you'll have that. Still, well worth time spent. If it doesn't make you smile, you have no soul. Or maybe just don't like Jerry's voice, I guess, although that concept refutes my deepest held beliefs.

"Box of Rain" may be just about the most perfect opening track ostensibly possible.

One of the few really great studio Dead albums, definitely.

For sure! That and Aoxomoxoa (sp.?) are the best, hands down.

Oh, I see. I never come to hate them, I just don't feel inclined to play them for a while.

Ases Falsos - Juventud Americana (2012)

South American Indie Pop. Pretty catchy.

Mudhoney - Vanishing Point

Never was too much into Mudhoney but I do really like the new album. Favorite tracks here include "The Only Son of the Widow from Nain", "I Don't Remember You", "In This Rubber Tomb", "What to Do with the Neutral", "Douchebags on Parade" and what may be a power pop anthem, "Sing This Song of Joy".

Ben Prunty - FTL: Faster Than Light Soundtrack (2012)

I've never quite heard an 8-bit chiptune soundtrack sound like this. Most of the time they are very reminiscent of the popular Sonic and Mario soundtracks with chirpy uplifting effects in full use. This soundtrack is more like an IDM album then anything else and it actually really creates a nice vibe. I'd say if you like M83 you'd probably adore this thing.
