The Peculiar Pretzelmen - Uncanny Eyes

On a Dark Cabaret trip at the moment. This is the shit.

Yeah I love that album. Do you need any other dark cabaret recommendations?

I wishlisted Jill Tracy, The Beat Circus, Reverend Glasseye and His Wooden Legs, Rosin Coven and Vermillion Lies on RYM. I already have some Circus Contraption and Tiger Lillies, but any others would be neat.

You'll find some of those artists on that playlist, and you'll get a few more recommendations. If this was the old days I could send you a few albums but sadly I lost all of those links.

Active Child - You Are All I See

One particular track - Playing House - caught my ear. It's a fascinating choir boy RnB track. I gave up listening to commercial RnB about 10 years ago as it was all 'roll up in the club' 'girl' this and 'girl' that and it all sounded the same. This track allowed me to nostalgically remember the essence of these RnB tracks without the cliche/tired choice of people that sang these tracks making me want to vomit as they desperately tried to sing their way into my labido. I think this track made this palatable and I like the way the band put their own spin on it.

Shutting up now...

Really enjoying Clear Conscience newest EP, Shelter from The Storm. These guys have been one of my favorite reggae groups for awhile now. They're sound has really evolved in the last few years too. There's some tasty electric guitar riffs now and lots of effects to give the songs a kind of dub feel which I'm digging.

Four - Bloc Party

I was turned off at first listen cause I was so cuddled up with Silent Alarm that I refused to give it a shot, but giving it another listen out of randomness really shows me how much I need to give new albums from old bands more of a chance. I'm really enjoying this record.

Inspectah Deck, 7L & Esoteric- Czarface

This album is just so great. It's like if madvillany was made in the 90s (and I mean that in the best way possible) with a lot more fun.

It's albums like these that make me wonder how much I'm missing out on.
