Rest assured, I will never be listening to Barenaked Ladies. But I know what you mean.

I've already got ...Are the Dark Horse downloaded, but thought I'd give Volume I just one more play before I moved on. Looking forward to them all.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Defintely agree with this!

And So I Watch you From Afar's new album. It's basically Battles' first album, complete with obnoxious vocals--- which is new for them. I like it, definitely better than Gangs, though hard to compare to their S/T due to the lack of riff-centric and NOISY songs.

That's a shame, BNL have some deceptively clever songs that completely get the shortend because of "One Week".

Anyways

The Joy Formidable - Wolf's Law (2013)

Not sure if I like this more than their full length debut (I'll need to listen to it a couple more times) but this is a solid piece of work. There's a really nice blend of rock, pop, and shoegaze and the album length really works to their favor, never getting dull but giving you a sense of satisfaction when it's over. They're really growing as a band and they haven't released anything I would call "dull" so I hope they can keep this momentum going because I think they could become pretty big in the next 3-5 years.

Yeah, I wouldn't really call myself a fan, but they have some decent tracks. And I love their song "Sell Sell Sell". I don't know how well-known that one is, but I wish they did more like it. It sounds like an awesome version of a 1950s Hollywood musical and has some pretty good lyrics as well. Just the right amount of camp and razorblades for my taste.

I'd call myself a fan for sure. I think Steven Page is one of the better pop vocalists going until his coke induced break down. As Pete said clever lyrics. Granted the last album I bought was Everything to Everyone/2003. I enjoyed a few diddies on that one, Upside Down was fantastic and they even pulled out the accordion ala They Might Be Giants on a track that was also very good.

Been really digging Undun from The Roots lately, I've been jamming to it all the way through almost everyday this week.

Perhaps I shouldn't dismiss them. I'm a fan of Marcy Playground even though most people dismissed them after "Sex & Candy". I'm glad I paid attention to the rest of the album, as I still enjoy it to this day.

Haha...that's actually a great example. I never gave Marcy Playground a chance after "Sex and Candy". I mean, I like that song...I just figured they were one hit wonders.
