Esplendor Geometrico - En Directo: Madrid y Tolosa I'll be damned if this isn't the best industrial album I've ever heard: it has just the right amount of variety I need from my electronic-driven albums without too much deviance from a central thesis of moody hardcore sounds. Basically the industrial version of IDM, this compilation of two live sets definitely will scratch my itch for this kind of music (and make it bigger and bigger every time!) for quite awhile. |
I've really been into James blunt lately, back to bedlam, pretty mellow

One of my fave MC's http://afromonk.com/wp-content/uploa...osmogramma.jpg Cosmogramma - Flying Lotus For me, this album's hard to digest. It's a good album, but it's lacking something. |
Johnny Hollow - Dirty Hands
This was sold to me as "what it would sound like if Tim Burton made a trip-hop album", and while it does have it's trip hoppy moments, I wouldn't really call it that. To me this sounds allot more like what a band like Lacuna Coil would sound like if they dropped the heavy guitars and focused more on strings and electronics. |

The Megaphonic Thrift - Decay Decoy (2010) These Norwegians play a brand of indie/noise rock very influenced by Sonic Youth. It's perhaps a little less experimental, say you were to take the more accessible SY material and combine them into an album. That's not to say it doesn't get crazy, but it's more consistently accessible than the average SY album, let's say. While derivative, it's very well played and enjoyable. They released a second album in 2012 but I've yet to check it out, despite first listening to this one in 2011. |

The 2nd Law should've been a plunderphonics album, at least then it would've had a legit excuse for copying Queen, Radiohead and what not. Awful, awful album. OT: I've been digging in Ty Segall's discography recently. He's made 3 albums in 2012, I'm now listenign to Hair (with White Fence). My favourite still is Slaughterhouse with this as a close second. http://cdn.stereogum.com/files/2012/...se-608x608.jpg That's Slaughterhouse, for those who are unaware. One of my favourite releases of 2012, features some amazing noise punk. |

Definitely one of the best albums of last year. That and Melted are probably my two favorites from him so far. |
