Amazingly good free-jazz album (so far) from 1967.
awesome album. I've been listening to this one quite a bit myself.

Most of my favourite albums this year have been metal albums. I would definitely start with that Dragged into Sunlight album Blaro mentioned. It quite frankly urinates all over every other album I've heard this year.

When Can - Kettel & Secede

I didn't expect this to be out this year, really good the first listen but it needs a couple more to really sink in, goes from ambient, to chaotic, to some downtempo beats.

Close to a World Below - Immolation

Saw a music video from these guys on a spanish metal show, some very good metal.

Songs to Flame the Fan of Discontent - Refused

I want to see them so bad again, their set was less than hour, still makes me mad to this day.

Port St. Willow - Holiday

Bandcamp

Excellent album, I've been listening to this all day on repeat and loving it. Ambient/Indie/post-rock with soulful vocals. The singers voice Kind of reminds me of Sade at times, but the music is a hybrid of E.I.T.S./Sigur Ros/Esben and the Witch.

Nothing groundbreaking, but it's solid punk/indie rock with some fantastic songwriting.

Mew - "Frengers"

These guys are probably my favourite dream pop band.

Frengers always reminded me of Siamese Dream... Only less angry. It's probably my favorite Mew album - I just listened to it yesterday on my road trip, in fact.
