It's the best torrenting site. They require you to keep a download:upload ratio dependent on how many gigs you've downloaded and how much of it you're currently seeding, but their catalog is immense and every submission goes through a stringent series of checks from both the site itself and other users. The vast majority of releases come in FLAC, 320, and V0, and they're sorted into vinyl, CD, and web rips as well so you always have a lot of choice.

You need to sign up with an invite code sent to you specially from another member. The only way to get invites as a member, though, is to upload a unique release, which I've never bothered to do because a) the guidelines are quite strict and b) I don't physically own anything that isn't already on there. If you poke around musicbanter you might find someone with spare invites, but I got mine from a completely music-unrelated forum totally by chance. Good luck!

Don't know about interviewing, but the contribution requirement isn't too strict. I've currently got 31 gigs down vs. 37 up, so a 1.18 ratio, while only a 0.40 ratio is required of me (or else they'd boot me out). I'm also currently seeding about 320 torrents. I just leave uTorrent open whenever I'm at my computer, since the site is so exclusive I never run into upstream bandwidth problems from too many connections even though all 300+ torrents are seeding at once.

I lost my Internet connect for two days and was banned for not seeding the 1 album I downloaded. I tried to appeal but they didn't listen and the random guy who invited me also got a warning for inviting me. I'm all for keeping up some modicum of respect and responsibility when it comes to torrenting, but they're all too overzealous with it.

I think I remember Eric Generic describing their standards, and I could've sworn they were very serious about the quality of uploads you must have on hand, and your knowledge of such things as bitrates and the like, which is why I've never sought to get in. Sounds nice though, I like that there's a secure screening process.

That blows! Do you remember how long ago this was? I thought I remembered reading the guidelines when I joined a year ago, where they had some kind of cushioning for newer members who were still figuring things out.

That seems to be abandoned because this happened back in September.

They are, if you are trying to upload something to help your ratio you really need to know your stuff. It's still the best torrent site since Demonoid went down

I could never keep a what.cd account so I'm not going to bother.

Psych Funk 101 is a compilation put out through Stones Throw. Awesome.
