Best album of the 2010's for me. I eagerly await an album that can dethrone it.

I thought it was just "good" unfortunately. I am sure they will come out with something more impressive next time round.

Mary Halvorson/Weasel Walter/Peter Evans - Mechanical Malfunction

Finally got around to this album after Goofle kept recommending it here, and it does not disappoint. Great free jazz. The guitar sounds like a cross between Derek Bailey and Sonny Sharrock, with a unique element to it that I can't quite place. The trumpet does its best to stay interesting and explores a lot of different textures and goes quite well with the drums, which are probably the high point of the album. I didn't place Weasel Walter's name before, but now that I recognize it and the playing, I realized that I've heard him doing Masayuki Takayanagi covers as well as work with Henry Kaiser. Good ****, thanks Goofle.

Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica

Until now my feelings towards this band have been "...so?" Now I think I get it.

He's also, most famously, the guy behind the Flying Luttenbachers. If you've never heard them before, you'd probably really like them.
