All four are good but the latter two 2012 releases really pick up from a few stages ahead, and with a lot more momentum and maturity, from where the former two parts, released in 2011, left off. Part IV is epic.

Evil, riff-worshipping, gloomy doom.

Great album this. I still prefer their debut Ferment, mainly for the seriously epic 'Black Metallic', but Chrome is a close second.

If you're looking for something in a similar vein check out Against Perfection by Adorable.

Masayuki Takayanagi & Kaoru Abe - Gradually Projection

This is the accompanying album to the duo's Mass Projection, and it's an entirely different animal. Mass Projection is two 25 minute improvisational noise jazz pieces that is similar to Borbetomagus's work, although it predates the groups by ten years. It has Masayuki Tagkayanagi on guitar and Kaoru Abe on alto saxophone.

Gradually Projection, however, has Tagayanaki on the acoustic and Abe on bass clarinet and harmonica. Takayanagi's playing is great, but Abe is the star of the show in this 49 minute journey that touches on a plethora of emotions that ranges from melancholy to angry to hopelessness. When I listen to it I imagine that Abe just found out that his wife died and he's contemplating suicide. Fucking great piece.

Spoiler for The Album:

Youtube doesn't have it all in one video, so here's the song divided.

Part one:

Part two:

Part three:

Part four:

I'd have to agree with this.

I already saw you listen to Ride...how about Chapterhouse? Their album Whirlpool is essential. These guys were heavy hitters during shoegaze's heyday, but I figured I'd mention them just in case you haven't checked them out. Lush, Curve, Moose, and Monster Movie are also bands worth looking into.

I'm really liking Good Old War's latest

Also, I discovered a record that's a few years old by a band called Little Joy that I really like.

Purity Ring - Shrines

Second time listening to this, it's not bad. Nothing too different from other electronic duo's, but still worth a listen.

Naked Funk - Valium

An exchange of PM's with Urban led me to this album... I am loving the first few tracks. Trip Hop/downtempo kinda deal.
