Goran Bregovic—Alkohol
That image on the cover of Bregovic double fisting booze in a snazzy but disheveled suit is a very good representation of what this album sounds like. This is some seriously badass Balkan drinking music—the kind of stuff that makes you want to jump up on a table and dance and break things and probably end up in a fight. The horns are rowdy and chattery, reminiscent of klezmer. The beats are lively. The vocals are varied, as if the mic is being passed around the room. Definitely worth a listen if you like music from this part of the world.

OMMADON IV (2012)

Unsigned Scottish doom band. I have been working my way through all of their releases (I-IV), the latter two I picked up on CD and the other two are free downloads on their Bandcamp. All four are good but the latter two 2012 releases really pick up from a few stages ahead, and with a lot more momentum and maturity, from where the former two parts, released in 2011, left off. Part IV is epic.

Evil, riff-worshipping, gloomy doom.

I'm really enjoying the Hit Me Like A Man EP recently released by The Pretty Reckless. It sounds like Taylor Momson has matured and I particularly love the track Under The Water and Cold Blooded. I would really love to see them live.

Mew - And The Glass Handed Kites

Okay... One of the best "dream pop" albums ever recorded. From what I am told this isn't even their best.

It's hard to rank Mew albums. This is the best all-around, but the one preceding it (Frengers) is for the huge-guitar-Siamese Dream was the best album ever-kinda fans and the one after it (No More Stories) is great for their experimental side.

Generally, Mew is damn awesome. I remember listening to ATGHK the first time I got REALLY stoned...it was that moment I knew I was a pothead.

No More Stories Are Told... is their best apparently. Brilliant so far.

Catherine Wheel - Chrome

If one band/album was going to encapsulate the direction my tastes have taken in the last three or four months (less Hip Hop, more general) it would be Catherine Wheel and this album. Chrome and Ferment are two of the most perfect records I have ever come across.

Sounds like you are starting to hit on my area of expertise if this is the direction you are going now. Catherine Wheel are pretty excellent...I prefer Ferment to Chrome, though.

Definitely gonna hook this up. Sounds like a beautiful way to spend an evening.

Both 5* for me. Chrome has better high points (Nude, Crank, Pain etc.) but Ferment is probably the better all round album.

Any suggestions in this kinda vein?
