I enjoyed hearing his music during the doc, but that's the extent of my DJ fandom.

I hope you've watched the documentary about him. If not, do.
Yes, and they throw around the word "genius" several times (I believe McCarthy uses that word to describe Hi, How Are You), and many people treat his artwork as if they're brilliant (or at least incredibly creative).

This is just the overall attitude that I have witnessed and still don't understand.

Andrew Jackson Jihad, Can't Maintain. Forgot to put this in my last post, but here it is now. Upbeat folk punk with a few jazzy moments and many a shout-along chorus. Lovin it.

Downloading their discography, I'm taking your word for it.

No prob Groove. Weird that you would take my one-sentence recommendation that says almost nothing (plus, I've heard almost nothing else from the band), but always glad to help turn someone on to new music!

The guys name and artwork, let alone your description of the music, put me on the look out for this as well.

It doesn't have the violent crescendos of "Silver", and the production is a bit muddier, but it's a lot more ambient and I'd say it's a more consistent affair.
