As for me...I've been going nuts over Dinosaur Jr's discography lately. I Bet on Sky just came out, and I feel like their whole approach just clicked with me. I had tried to get into You're Living All Over Me for a long time, as it seems to be highly rated amongst everyone here, but it just never really clicked with me. After I Bet On Sky, I went back to Farm...then Green Mind...and now there's no going back. I can't stop listening to them. While I still think You're Living All Over Me is one of their weaker albums (out of the ones I've heard so far), I can finally say I'm a giant freaking Dinosaur Jr. fan.

I've heard a bit of the album and what I've heard sounds great. I might end up checking it out, even though I've never been the biggest Dinosaur Jr. fan.

It's worth a listen. I've decided the key to Dinosaur Jr. is accepting how J works. He noodles and noodles and every once in a while lands on something absolutely amazing (happens on average once or twice per song). Every once in a while, he nails this approach on a whole album (which I feel happened on Farm). While I Bet on Sky has a couple mediocre tracks sprinkled in, the good ones are REALLY damn good.

Various Artists - Whom the Moon a Nightsong Sings

I don't know how I missed this beautiful neofolk compilation from 2010. I'm only halfway through the first disc but I can already say I love it. It's a dark album full of beautiful atmosphere, the perfect ambiance as the nights lengthen and fall turns into winter.

by far one of my favorite albums of 2010 and it introduced me to Havnatt.....their track on that comp brings me to tears....ii have absolutely no clue what it is that she is saying....but it is so haunting and beautiful

for me right now....i just cannot get enough of the new Those Poor Bastards....it is such an evil and fun album....perfect for the begining of fall :)

The Beatles - Self-titled (The White Album)
My favourite Beatles album. It just gets MUCH better when you know it's background, even though it's great as it is. Oh, and it contains some of the best stuff they've ever made :)

My Chemical Romance - Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge
I just love it. Totally the best brutal pop/rock album I've ever heard.

Kaizers Orchestra - Ompa Til Du Dør
Norwegian lyrics, but it should be enjoyable for everyone. Almost no weak songs, and really energic.

Enslaved - RIITIIR (2012)

I don't know how Enslaved have done it, but they've managed to knock out another masterpiece, which for those keeping track is 8 since 2000. I can't think of another band who is so consistent while still managing to sound new each album. This album is pretty far removed from Axioma Ethica Odini (2010), while still sounding like it's building up off what they did before. Is this kvlt black metal? Heavens no, there's lots of clean passages, loads of melody, and a really effort to sound like the progressive rock bands of the '70's that inspired them. Lots of death growls on this too, less of the high pitched shrieks commonly associated with black metal. This sounds more like Mikael Åkerfeldt in the mid '90's/ early '00's. If you've enjoyed previous Enslaved releases than you were already going to get this anyways, but if you're sorely lacking on metal albums for 2012, I highly recommend this album, and hope it opens your ears and makes you curious to look up their previous albums.

It's an E.P but whatever. Decent glitchy Electronica that has been lumped in with Dubstep at times which is not surprising as Koan Sound started life with a Dubstep sound but it's not really that at all. It sounds like a kid trying to make funk records in 1983 on his Commodore 64 and still sounding great nearly 30 years later.

DJ Yo Yo Dieting - Regurgitation As Birth.
They refer to this sort of sound as 'chopped and screwed' Hip Hop. It's a sludgy, distorted mangle of vocal loops, bass heavy beats and ethereal soundscapes. Not the sort of thing I could listen to very often but it's certainly unique and hypnotic. I think Janszoon, loathsome pete and bob would really like this. I won't post any YT vids as it won't do the album justice. Can't wait to hear this on headphones in a dark room.

Both of those albums seem like they'd be fantastic, Lee! I'm going to have to track them down.
