I'm going to assume from this that you've never actually listened to that album, because it's one of the finest psychedelic rock albums of the 60's.

It's not really psychedelic though, is it? Certainly not like Out Here is, for example. I wouldn't even say it was garage-rock. I'm not sure what I would say it is other than a straight up rock record.

Not that it matters, it's a fantastic record!

Pigs - You Ruin Everything

Listening to a few albums that are mentioned in bob's "Top Albums Of 2012/11/10" lists and I am really enjoying this one. Really nice mix of sludge, hard rock and a punk aesthetic. Brill.

Kiss the Anus of a Black Cat - Weltuntergangsstimmung

This is also a very good album. Not as instantly appealing as the one mentioned above, but some of the best gothic music I have heard.

I agree, but I think it's generally classified as a psych record because of its time. It was popular amongst that whole movement, and I can definitely see similar threads running through it...but yeah, I see what you are saying.

It's one of those anomalous records that really stands on its own. Nothing else by Love was really worthwhile.

That's cool if you find it boring but I really don't get the Doors comparison.

awesome man

in all honesty i suggest checking out Hewers of Wood and Drawers of Water by Kiss The Anus of a Black Cat....who in my opinion would be liked by many here if they could just get past the silly name

Pigs is Dave (bass player from Unsane)....they formed what seems like 10 years ago and finally released a full length....well worth the wait

If you must assume things, do it carefully because you'll often be wrong.
I absolutely have listened to it because some the 60s/70s bands (Led Zeppelin and The Doors to be specific) I used to like when I was going through some kind of childhood phase were known for name-dropping Love.
I didn't like the album even back then. But, unless it sounds like 13th Floor Elevators, I pretty much hate 60s psychedelic rock so never mind me.

Well, then that's a different story.

As for me...I've been going nuts over Dinosaur Jr's discography lately. I Bet on Sky just came out, and I feel like their whole approach just clicked with me. I had tried to get into You're Living All Over Me for a long time, as it seems to be highly rated amongst everyone here, but it just never really clicked with me. After I Bet On Sky, I went back to Farm...then Green Mind...and now there's no going back. I can't stop listening to them. While I still think You're Living All Over Me is one of their weaker albums (out of the ones I've heard so far), I can finally say I'm a giant freaking Dinosaur Jr. fan.
