BLUT AUS NORD - 777 THE DESANCTIFICATION (2011)

Parts one and two of a trilogy to be completed later this month with the release of Cosmosophy. I'd seen a few members here mention them over the last year and not really taken much notice. A friend of mine mentioned them recently and I went and checked out some of their output. These two albums I felt were pretty impressive with elements of industrial, dark ambient and black metal and an overall beauty.

DEATHSPELL OMEGA - SI MONVENTVM REQVIRES, CIRCVMSPICE (2004)

I'm glad I checked these out too. This was one long album and at times I was really starting to be able to relax to it through moments of prolonged repetition or ambience before a sudden blast beat or riff would waken me right up again. At 77 minutes it isnt the most accessible record, but its worth it.

Those Polvo albums are the stuff. Where have they been all my life?

I've gone through it once already, and will be giving it another listen tomorrow.

Absolutely. Just listened to it three or four times around since getting it last night. Well done! More! was really fun.

I found this old record from the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. Plays like a hard rock mini-musical, with a little bit of glam, some horns and some prog. flourishes here and there. Alex Harvey was the circus ring leader. He dressed like a pirate and had a clown playing lead guitar. Its campy gitchy fun.

Black Breath, Sentenced To Life. I've been listening to this a lot this last week (or more? I can't remember, it's all been a blur). This is a crust punk band that is heavily, heavily influenced by death, black, and thrash metal. The guitar tone, especially, sounds taken directly from Slayer. Not a bad thing.

Sentenced whips by in a half hour of head banging and moshing by yourself with your headphones on. It's not anything particularly new, but damn is it good. Plus, do you see that album cover? Looking at that, you just know it's going to be awesome.

Ghana Special is UNBELIEVABLY catchy.

The Soundway compilations are great in general, though.

Their previous album Heavy Breathing is killer too. Been a fan for a while.
