I don't know how Devin does it, but he never seems to release a bad album. Even with releasing two albums last year, and now releasing this, his sound still sounds new. Nothing ever gets repetitive, and there always seems to be surprises in each of his releases. I enjoy/am enjoying Epicloud quite a bit. I've gone through it once already, and will be giving it another listen tomorrow. |

Just recently picked this up on vinyl...
I'm a huge 'everything from Swordfish on' fan of Tom Waits but this was never really on my radar. It really has some great songs on it and plays well as an album, albeit a very short album. I guess I will have to look for 'Alice' now also.... |

Hahah. That's interesting. I swear all I hear/read about 'Alice' is that it's either TW's 'forgotten masterpiece' or that, as Jansz says, it sucks the big one. Nothing in between. Guess I better give it a listen before I plunk down any cash....Thanks man.

I think the issue is that the entire album consists of slow, dirgey songs. If you love that side of his music then you'd probably love Alice. If you're like me and can only take those tracks in small doses—the way he doles them out on most of his albums—then you probably won't like the album very much.
