These guys are one of those bands that has hovered on fringes of my awareness for years and years so I finally decided to give them a listen. Pretty good stuff—experimental, punishing, droning, hardcore-based music that feels oddly jazzy to me.
That sounds excellent. I must listen.

I think you'd probably like them, or at least appreciate what they were doing. Of the four albums I've listened to I'd definitely recommend starting with either Mancruel or Thoughtless.

Going to start with Mancruel, eventually anyway. I have so much on my "to listen" list I don't even know what I have. I'll get to it eventually haha.

Now... for this monster.

Ty Segall Band, Slaughterhouse. This... I don't even know. It's giving me strong vibes of The Stooges, Black Sabbath, The Kinks, Black Flag. Mostly short, to the point, noisy jangly heavy songs of madness and perfection. Every instrument (vocals included) are so covered in distortion that it's just this mass wall of noise, even on their least heavy songs. You can barely understand a word that Ty Segall sings, partially because of the distortion, partially because he's simply screaming himself hoarse. The album includes an insane Bo Diddley cover and a ten-minute-plus noise piece. Here's my favorite song off the album. I could listen to it all day, but don't because there's just more of the album to hear. This is one of those few albums that I consider perfect. It is quickly becoming a favorite of mine, not just in recent releases, but of all time. Listen to it. Right now.

By far, one of the better Pink Floyd albums, easily.

If just for this track alone:

Deep, dreamy darkwave with some EBM influences. I get lost in the sound so easily.

Lost militant afro-centric funk/jazz/soul gem from the 70's. Rugged stuff right here.

It may be a bit premature as so far I've only listened through the album once entirely but I'm loving the hell out of this (I keep getting stuck on certain tracks). Really interesting world music/jazz fusion heavy with inventive jam-session percussion.

Can't find any album-version links of this one but it's still gorgeous.

Holy hell...pretty sure I have this laying around somewhere. Been ages. May have to find it!

I've been listening to this tonight and loving it:

Old school. I love old school and I've been looking for some new artist with a old soul flavor. This is kinda perfect for that right now.
