The Brian Jonestown Massacre - Aufheben I'll have to amend my list in the best of 2012 so far thread. I've got the new Ty Segall to add and now this. Really excellent blend of psychedelic, shoegaze, indie, and eastern influenced stuff. I played this with some friends and even the girl with horrible taste in music liked this stuff. I'm very hopeful for the rest of 2012 because some of my favorite albums from this year have just started coming in.

Boxer - The National
I love High Violet, one of my favorite albums in fact. But I can't seem to get into this one. None of the songs really standout for me. The Walkmen - You & Me Hard to digest the first few times but eventually you start to really appreciate it. |

I find High Violet kind of patchy, which definitely serves to break up the flow into more memorable sections, but it doesn't hit the spot for me overall.
Honestly, I think that the sober mood of Boxer works in favour of its lyrical content, which is very tired and repetitive. |
