Oddisee - People Hear What They See

I haven't even finished this sucker and I can already tell this is one of my favorite hip hop albums of this year. Every track has been a winner. It's really smooth, which is my favorite kind of hip hope. Check out That Real and Let It Go.

Crocodiles - Sleep Forever

They just released an album this year, but I felt like starting with this one. Great JAMC influenced psychedelic shoegaze type indie here. I'll be checking out their new album, needless to say.

I wouldn't mind checking out that Oddisee album, I was listening to Dangermouse & Gemini at work tonight and I am in a Hip Hop mood.

Crocodiles are damn good, check out Zola Jesus if you haven't already. A lot more Lo Fi but from the same sort of sound.

Eef Barzelay - Lose Big

I've had this forever and have listened to it many, many times and am generally a big Eef Barzelay/Clem Snide fan, but this album has just recently really clicked with me. I really love his songwriting and while most of my favorite songs are on other albums, this one feels the most consistently substantial. I'm going to write a bit more about it in my journal in the near future so I'll leave it at this for now.

If you only have time to listen to one song I highly recommend How Dare They at the moment. :)

Spoiler for YOUTUBE:

If you like your hip hop jazzy with plenty of hooks, you'll enjoy People Hear What They See. I've heard a few things that Zola Jesus has collaborated on (like on the new M83 album), but haven't really checked her own music out. Do you recommend an album to start with?

I like all sorts of Hip Hop as long as it's not commercial crap that is not actually Hip Hop but Jazzy Hip Hop is right up my street.

As for Zola Jesus try The Spoils.

I enjoyed it ever since I got it, but I really missed out on some gems. I don't think it all got added to my iTunes. That's the only thing I can think of. This could end up being one of my favorite albums.

This album is winning me over each time I listen to it. I want to start listening to her new album but I'm already so fixated on this album.

Hanging Garden - Goodbye Love... Hello Heartache

Was waiting quite awhile for this to be released. It's unfortunately their last album, and it's doubly unfortunate because I enjoy this one more than their previous album. His vocals are more of the wailing and moaning variety on this one, as opposed to the aggressive growling style he had in How Will You Live Your Life Today. With this new style comes more of a mournful and more appropriately depressing ambiance. I've listened to it a few times already (in 3 days), which is exceedingly rare for me.
