Often credited as the invention of Post-Rock whilst not sounding much like most post rock you'll normally hear. It's actually more like soft, slow math rock than anything else although I can see where future Post-Rock acts could have drawn influence.

It's definitely a slow grower of an album.

Bastion Original Soundtrack

Absolutely beautiful electronica mixed with acoustic guitar. I cannot be I slept on both this soundtrack and game last year, because the game is just as beautiful as the music.

I had already been into post rock at the time I heard it, so I liked pretty much on the first go round. I can see how it wouldn't work out that way if it had also been my first introduction to the genre.

What kind of post rock were you into at the time? Because when most people hear post rock they immediately think GY!BE and they don't sound too similar.

Also, have you listened to Talk Talk and Tortoise?

When I think post rock I think Mogwai... they were the first group I got into and there are definitely similarities there. GY!BE are on the extreme end of post rock... So much so that I actually have a hard time considering them as post rock.

And yes, I just recently got into Talk Talk but I've been a Tortoise fan for a while.

I've really been enjoying Icon this year, easily within my top five favourite metal albums released this year.
