Figure 8 - Elliott Smith
An album that just makes it hard to believe that this guy took his like away. Very Beatle-esque at moments. Wonderful Kendrick Lamar EP - Kendrick Lamar This guy has some of the best rapping skills I have heard in a while. Youthful yet sophisticated, his lyrical content ranges from slavery to pussy and patron (great song). Good production. Alternative 4 - Anathema Quite depressing, heavy stuff here.

Егор и Опизденевшие - Сто лет одиночества This is great. Clearly verbalising the name of the band and album would prove hugely difficult for anybody (me) that doesn't have a grasp of the Russian language, but the music itself is superb. There's psychedelic, post-punk, noise rock and folk elements to it, and they all come together to create this strange atmosphere clouded in nostalgia and weariness. At its core is a collection of great pop songs. All I know about it is the fact it was released in 1993. Edit: The band's name translates into 'Egor and Opizdenevshiye', or Egor and The Fuckups. The album means 'Psychedelia Tomorrow'. Last edited by Sneer; 05-31-2012 at 07:33 PM. |

Jay Reatard - Watch Me Fall So I've finally been discovering the genius that was Jay Reatard. I don't know why I started here, but I'm loving this album. It's got just the right blend of poppiness and punkiness...it's very addictive stuff. I love "The Shining" album cover, too. I don't know why it took me so long to check this guy out. I heard a lot about him on here when I first joined, and then again when he died but I still didn't check out any of his albums. He was even a Memphis native (my hometown). Ah well, I'm getting into it now.
