My admiration for The Velvet Underground and Nico hath been rekindled, it's quite the listen. If that album only had Heroin and European Son on it, it would still be just as valuable in my eyes.

High on Fire - Death is this Communion

Fast-paced hard-rock-and-roll that is strongly reminiscent of Motorhead. On par with Blessed Black wings. I'm looking forward to their new album

Not albums at all but a mix I am digging a lot:

This is from November last year.

It's a shame there are not more lovers of DJ mixes on MB.

^ There are more around than you'd expect I'd warrant.

RVCA: Glad you mentioned that particular record, as I needed to be reminded to pick it up.

Anyway-

Marillion - Afraid Of Sunlight

I'm not a huge fan of the (ongoing) Steve Hogarth era of Marillion, but this 1995 seminal work hits all my musical sweet spots whilst making some surprisingly experimental moves for something with a "neo" prog. label attached. Echoes of Peter Gabriel, Radiohead and even Faith No More abound sonically, but this is just as beautiful and interesting as anything legends like them have cut to posterity, and I'm really glad I've gotten into it!

That sounds fantastic. Imma give a listen.

That really is one terrific album. I've always described it to people as sounding like Slayer with Lemmy on vocals.

The Weeknd:
House Of Balloons
Thursday
Echoes Of Silence

Loving this stuff. RnB with dark undertones and top notch production.

All available for free download off his site

^ I liked Echoes of Silence, but the rest seem pretty childish and not very well thought out. Look forward to their 2012 release though.
