The Postal Service - Give Up (2003) Never really liked Death Cab For Cutie but there's something strangely enjoyable about this. It's like a more mellow and subdued style of synth pop with a conscience. Shame they've only released this one album.

Ufomammut's "Idolum" Saw Janzoons's review in his "25 Albums Before..." thread. Wonderfully stoney, psychedelic doom metal. The bass attacks you like a large, dangerous mammal. Josh Garrel's "Love & War & The Sea In Between" Imagine a folk guitarist who learned how to sing from soul records and then he hung out with a lot of hip-hop people. This album is mostly chill and laid back, with drum samples and lots of acoustic guitar, synths, harps, banjo, violin... etc. Lots of intelligent wordplay, allegories involving the ocean, and a whole slew of love songs. I recommend it. |

But seriously, awesome to hear that! Guess I should post albums more often. You won't regret either of them, they're both awesome. |

a couple of years ago a compilation came out called "Whom the Moon a Nightsong Sings"....basically a compilation of newer neo folk music most specifically from the Nordic countries....out of all the bands on it the band Havnatt caught my ear and i listened to their single track over and over again getting lost in this woman's heart wrenching yest siren-esque voice.....finally they released an EP and its as amazing as that single track...... |

Good God, I love this mixtape. Each song is only like two minutes long, but each beat is just really hard and really 90s sounding. This guy's rapping is tight too, I don't really know what it sounds like, but I like it. This tape is deadly, if you want some good new hip hop, get this. |
