I took a little time away from staring at a PC screen and listening to MP3's through headphones and today played REAL C.D's through a REAL stereo system. I forget I have one sometimes. So today I blasted a couple of faves:
Jeff Buckley - Grace (Legacy Edition) Fave tracks today: So Real and Forget Her Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss Fave tracks today: Spirit In Black and Skeletons Of Society PJ Harvey - Dry Fave tracks today: O Stella and Joe

It was nice just to sit down and read liner notes, have decent sound quality etc. I really dont do it enough.

Bar Kokhba - Lucifer: Book of Angels Volume 10 Jazzy, Klezmer-ish(?) music that I'm really digging atm. Not to be confused with John Zorn's Bar Kokhba, although it does have a bit of similarities and John Zorn is involved here as well. Goddamn, keeping up with his releases/side projects is tougher than I thought. No youtube/MySpace I'm afraid. Edit: Here's one from their previous release - Link Last edited by Demonoid; 12-05-2008 at 04:12 PM. |

The Clean- "Anthology"
Anyone remotely interested in lo-fi pop-rock should look into this band, they're one of the very best. (Tally-Ho, Thumbs Off, Getting Older) Animal Collective- "Strawberry Jam" One of those albums I'm liking 1000000% more now than I did when I first purchased it. It's absolutely incredible. (Peacebone, Unsolved Mysteries, Winter Wonderland) Deerhunter- "Weird Era Cont." Ive been listening to this and 'Microcastle' nonstop since October, but lately Weird Era has caught my attention more. The instrumentals here like 'Slow Swords' and 'Moon Witch Cartridge' are awesome, and I'm VERY picky with instrumentals, so the fact that I like them, nevermind revere them, is proof positive that this album shouldn't be overlooked. Jim O Rourke - Bad Timing Wow. What a fantastic acoustic instrumental album that touches on a little blues, a little Country, a little ambience and a whole lot of pleasure. Four tracks that are easy on the ear and never outstay their welcome. Very impressed with this.

I really like the new Sigur Rós album, Með suð í eyrum við spilum endalaust. It feels much more different than the rest, not to mention the songs are much shorter, and lets face it, I always assumed their songs would be epic as per usual. A close second to this one would be another of theirs that came out in 2007, Hvarf - Heim, which has a second disc of live tracks, and I have to say they do a great job live.
Another album that I will always, always love would be Fugazi's 13 Songs. So good. So very good. I don't even need to say more. I have also been into a The Notwist kick for a while, I absolutely love Neon Golden. I really respect their talent, I mean German is their first language, yet they write so well in English. I really appreciate that kind of talent.
