The Byrds - The Notorious Byrd Brothers (1968)
So I've been listening to a lot of The Byrds lately, and this is the latest I've picked up, their 5th. Each one has been fantastic but this one is really hitting the spot.

^I've heard that album at some point, but I don't have it. Anyway, from what I've heard my favorite is definitely Fifth Dimension. That's the only Byrds album I listen to from time to time actually. I have to renew my interest in them and see what I've missed.

Fifth Dimension is great too, no doubt, but I find it a little less consistent. Anyway I may like it more with time, I've only played it a handful of times.

But you can give me whatever really! I'm just excited to find something I like. EDIT: While I'm in here, I've been listening to The Starlets again. After listening to Themilo for awhile, I kind of was in the mood for some more Dreampop.

Well I just spent a while writing up a post and accidentally deleted it and now I'm pissed. So check out Hypochristmutreefuz by Eric Dolphy, upbeat kind of smoothish in a way free jazz, and John Zorn's band Mandala which is sort of a jazzy experiment in Jewish music that is often really laid back kind of like the track you posted before.
In other news, I've been digging the hell out of Secede at work lately. Born in a Tropical Swamp Leraine (feat. Kettel) I was thinking about them after that discussion about no drums and ambient music, and this is really one of the only albums I've found where that's alright at times. This is probably the chillest album I've ever heard myself, and it has no dull moments throughout. It reminds me a lot of Boards of Canada, but kind of better. |

I know I'm double posting, I love this thread and it needs more activity from people.
Just found a leak of Timber Timbre's new album Creep on Creepin' On. Just what I wanted from the band. It's a little fuller than their self titled, but still holds onto the same simple haunted atmosphere as the first. In fact, if anything, it's spookier. Great album, check it out it's released in a week and a half. |
