Arms & Sleepers - Nostalgia for the Absolute
I bought this on a whim, hoping it would be less pop oriented than Matador. Well, it ended up being the most Ambient driven album they've done thus far. It has barely any percussion at all! Oh and it's also unbelievably dark. |

I downloaded that when it leaked at the start of January and i was fairly satisfied with it. It doesn't quite have the edge of Citrus but it's a very welcome addition to their catalog. 'Perfectly Crystal' is an immense song with killer vocal hooks.

I listened to Citrus so many times when it first came out that I'm still a bit worn out on it. I agree it has an energy that the later albums don't, but I think that's a good thing. Citrus left me completely satisfied, so I'm done with that sound. I think they are getting much better at making very intricate music which is something I wish more shoegaze bands did. Sure, a wall of guitars sounds cool but sometimes you gotta back it up with some musicianship.
