Another interesting fact, Beck called Histoire de Melody Nelson , "one of the greatest marriages of rock band and orchestra I've ever heard." Musical talent definitely runs in the Gainsbourg family.
I have heard that Serge album, but only once, and in fact it's the only one of his I've heard. I threw it on my portable music playing device after getting into Charlotte's album, intending to listen to it again but I haven't yet. Thanks for the reminder.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat

I can't get enough of this record as of late.
I usually turn to VU&N or their self-titled, I've always considered them to be far better but recently White Light White Heat has just hit the spot. I kind of underrated it in a way, I knew it was good but I never realised it was this good.
She's too busy suckin' on my ding-dong.

One of my favorite albums of all time. Sister Ray is absolutley nuts. Every song on there is gold

I'm always in conflict as to whether I like Velvet Underground and Nico more or this one. Lately it's been this one. I have to admit though, it's pretty tough getting all the way through Sister Ray in one listen. I still like the song, just man is it long.

Genghis Tron - Board Up the House

Such a good album. For those that have not heard it's Mathcore with a Techno inluence. Really cool sounding and unique. There are a lot of really catchy and memorable riffs on this album. Just awesome overall.

Gilberto Gil and Jorge Ben - Gil e Jorge

This album is absolutely amazing. Recorded in one day during one long jam session with only three musicians (Gil, Jorge Ben and a percussionist), this album consists of folk, samba, 70s era rock, psychedelic, minimalism, jazz, harmony, bad production, good musicianship, etc. Just completely amazing. This is what music is about. Pure, raw music, take it or leave it.

My favorite song:

The Samuel Jackson Five
Easily Misunderstood

Easily one of the best instrumental post rock/jazz albums I've ever heard. Actually, I don't even know if post rock/jazz is the right term to describe them but this whole album is fantastic. Works great when you're driving a while at night.
