^^Haha, I said maybe more exciting. I absolutely love no wave New York, but recently I'm into exploring San Francisco scene and it surprises me with high quality with every band I hear for the first time. I basically listened to The Residents and Tuxedomoon the most and then Chrome and MX-80 Sound. Oh, and there was Monte Cazazza too. Two 'bands' I heard recently, that I never knew existed before, are Factrix and now Minimal Man. Both are fantastic. And there's more I haven't checked yet. So it's a pretty strong competition to no wave New York. It just needs some official compilation to save those bands from oblivion, like a certain other compilation did for those New York bands.

Haha No New York is probably my favorite compilation album. There might be something from San Francisco at the same time that just never got popular for whatever reason. You've piqued my interest so now I'm off to hunt the all knowing internet

There's Subterranean Modern, but it only compiled The Residents, Tuxedomoon, Chrome and MX-80 Sound. Oh yeah there's one more compilation also from Ralph Rec that has Snakefinger and Renaldo and the Loaf on it, two more great acts. But, I was thinking of some new, more extensive compilation that would focus on lesser known bands.

I haven't found it yet, but I'll shoot you a link if I do. Please do the same for me, I guess this is something I should check out as The Wounds and Flipper are there with The Screamers. And I didn't even know that's where The Residents came from. |

But on the albums you're digging topic...
Alkaline Trio - Goddamnit A blast from the past, this one takes me back to middle school. That was a long time ago (relatively speaking). Lots of memories... Haven't listened in a while. Jonny Trunk - The Inside Outside This guy owns a record label that reissues old obscure albums, didn't really like much of the stuff on it but this album thathe made himself from old samples is the ****. |
