What does this sound like? RYM says nothing about it and the band name has me interested.

I'm really loving this band lately. This album is certainly one of their best, full of energy, emotion and great songwriting.
I'd say I agree, but it's the only album of theirs I've bothered getting

Fantastic album as you say. Proof that girls can rock out just as well as anyone.

As for me...

Elvis Costello - National Ransom

Six tracks into my first listen. I'm impressed, which is a lot more than I expected I'd be after reading a distinct 'meh' review from BBC Music.

A brilliant album from start to finish, the highlight being the gorgeous 'Sea Of Sound'. This album badly needs a re-master though as it sounds a bit washed-out.
These guys were ahead of their time in a lot of ways. Great album. I also love their bsides album Taking Drugs To Make Music To Take Drugs To. Awesome title and some really great tracks.

I've heard more than just this album. Hall of the Mountain Girl is my favorite and I've heard Warrior on the Edge of Time which is really good. Any other recommendations?

Their last album The Woods is certainly worth getting, it's full of amazing songs. One Beat is certainly worth checking out as well.

Recently it's been Beach Boys Pet Sounds, the new Orange & Atlas and some Phil Spector pop

Astounding Sounds, Amazing Music. Quark, Strangeness and Charm. Levitation for their early stuff and then Sonic Attack and Choose Your Masques when they got a little heavier.

Kiss The Anus Of The Black Cat - Hewers of Wood and Drawers of Water

i finally picked up this amazing band's forth release and have not stopped listening to it....the songs are quite short compared to previous releases....and much more straight forward and to the point while keeping the layered complexity that made me fall in love with this band....a wonderful mixture of dark folk music, traditional instrumentation, post-rock, gothic americana, and just a small dose of psychedelic....

this is by far their most straight forward release...which is why i think many fans of their earlier albums dislike it....i have to admit my first listen last night left a sour taste in my mouth....but this has really grown on me....and i think this may offer more exposure to this band whom i really enjoy....this will easily be one of my favorite albums for the year 2010

top tracks: Veneration, Feathers of the Wings of the Angel Gabriel, Argonaut And Magneto

Spoiler for if you're interested here are two tracks i found on youtube:

Argonaut and Magneto

Hewers of Wood and Drawers of Water

Ah, yeah I totally am. I just happened to download that Pale Saints album and a couple Spacemen 3 albums at the same time and mixed them up.

Both are great though.
