I did the same thing. The name makes the band sound super emo.

John Metcalfe – Darker Sunset

Genre? Couldn't tell you. Sometimes it's Classical, sometimes it's Electronica, sometimes it's Jazz, sometimes it's everything. Fantastically eclectic, just the way I like it. Definitely need to review this one.

Really digging these two albums.

It's folky, with mixtures of roots, country and punk and it's very traditional Irish influenced as well, a lot of good sing-a-long songs too, at least for me.

Her first full length, and it simply is a girl and her ukulele, playing short songs with a sweet whispery voice.

New release from last week:

The Thermals - Personal Life (2010)

I like it better than their last release, and thank god it doesn't include that awful 'Canada' single. They have finally embraced their slowed sound and gone to a more riff oriented song structure, and the bass is much more prominent--I like.

Some random EPs I've just now added to my collection:

Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime (2006)

Noisy and plenty of bass as well. 'Nature of the Experiment' is a great song. Yes, I know they sound like The Strokes ripoffs, and I don't care because I enjoy the music.

One Day as a Lion - One Day as a Lion (2008)

I don't know much about true rap-rock fusion, but this seems to be it and it's really good. Why can't there be more good rap-rock like this?

You have me intrigued and I am further investigating...

edit: yeah, as I expected this band is awesome and right up my alley. Kinda reminds me of DFA 1979. Any idea what is the best album of theirs to start with, anybody?

I'm surprised they haven't put out an LP by now, seems like forever ago that this came out. They even had ads on buses for this EP, and then, nothing.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Not really an alias, but a side project. The Knife is a duo, Fever Ray is the solo work of Karin Dreijer.

This is pretty awesome stuff! Nice post-hardcore/math-rock.
