Tages - Contrast
More people should listen to this band. This is the first of two albums this Swedish psychedelic pop/rock band put out in 1967 (their 4th overall, according to RYM, though earlier ones may have been comps). The second LP of that year (and their final), Studio, is a real gem. If you like The Beatles, The Kinks, Small Faces, The Pretty Things, The Idle Race, Status Quo, etc at their poppiest, you owe it to yourself to check it out. I've only recently acquired Contrast and have played it a few times. It's a little less poppy I'd say, but I'm starting to think it's just as good. And that's damned good.

DJ N-Wee - The Slack Album
Still my favorite mash up. It's Jay-Z's The Black Album and Pavement's Slanted & Enchanted. You can never go wrong with Flying Saucer Attack's kick ass space rock and shoegaze sound. And Faraquet just rocks. |

Yay for Faraquet. There was actually a good bit of discussion on them when I first signed up here. Haven't really seen them mentioned since.

Heh I think that may have been a bit before my time. I'm pretty sure they're my favorite math rock band though. One more I thought of that deserves a mention here:
Highly, highly recommended to anyone that likes Madlib or reggae and hip hop. Or that likes to smoke up once in a while. I had nearly forgotten about this album over the past couple years since I quit smoking and all and it was lost when my drive crashed, but oddly my roommate was listening to a song and I had to have it back immediately. |

Very much. I've been getting out a lot lately, going to jam sessions at pubs downtown...pretty much been the last half of my summer, actually. This album speaks highly to that...great summer listening
