It's one of the best albums I've ever listened to, honestly. And definitely one of my favourites.

Frail - Brilliant Darkness

I am in love this album atm. It's 4 tracks in length but my God I can't get enough of it. It's DSBM, but it's not heavy or anything like that... it's just beautiful.

Default Tom Jones - Praise and Blame

I must preface this by saying I love Tom Jones, I say that without any hint of irony. I think he really is one of the finest singers I've ever heard.

Praise and Blame simply confirms that opinion. A gospel touched album that takes full advantage of his power and his range. The first track is written by Bob Dylan and is called What Good Am I, and since I first heard the song I have been unable to get it out of my heads. Not traditionally catchy, but compellingly written and the rasp Tom Jones brings to the song, combined with his natural power, the highs and the lows, and the regrets implicit in his phrasing make it a must listen. There is seven or eight stand out tracks and a few which I like but don't love, overall one of my favorite albums of the year.

An album I used to think was crap but now realise it's actually the most enjoyable TH album.

Amazing isn't it? Another one of those new bands who are like Post.. DSBM. Or what have you. It's definitely one of my favorite genres as of right now. Dernier Martyr remains my favorite band.. despite only having 6 songs they're my most played artist.

Welp, as for yours truly:

Hummingbird - Our Fearful Symmetry (unbelievably gorgeous.. just insane) [no youtube link unfortunately]

The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand (from Ambient to metal in no time flat.. very interesting stuff)

The Echelon Effect - Reunion (you guessed it.. gorgeous! unbelievably gorgeous)

Arc of Doves - The Lights (gorgeously gorgeousful gorgeousness)

Most recent listens...

The Suburbs - Arcade Fire... probably said all I have to say about how much I love this album and how great it is... so I'll hold back and simply say, it's great.

Narrow Stairs - Death Cab for Cutie - everyone around here seems to be of the consensus that Plans was better than this, but I consider it way and above Plans, which I found a tad disappointing after the colossal awesomeness that was Transatlanticism... this album is more like, IMO...

Beautiful album, not their best but it's up there.

Tindersticks - Second Album
Listened to it three times so far and I'm enjoying it a lot. Got their first album downloading right now.

Native Nod - Today Puberty, Tomorrow The World
Amazing angular hardcore album, from the early-mid 90s band. One of my favourite emo bands, for sure. They only recorded 9 songs but they're all top notch.

The Gun Club - Fire Of Love
A band I don't listen to nearly enough, they're just awesome.
Some good choices, except I'm not familiar with Native Nod. I absolutely love that Gun Club album and Tinderstics in general. But I always find myself listening to their first album mostly, very rarely anything else. I don't know why. It's such a good album that it manages to satisfy my need for Tinderstics completely. Strange. I'll have to put on their second album, I haven't heard it in ages.
