Revisiting some old school Genesis tonight, namely, the wonderful and frequently grandiose (which makes it even better) Selling England by the Pound.... I forgot how jaw droppingly good the guitar solo in the middle of Firth of Fifth was...

I tend to binge on Pink Floyd quiet often. Pipers has to be on my top 5 Pink Floyd albums. Syd Barrets lyrics are witty, funny and trippy. Making him one of my favorite songwriters of all time. |
some stuff I've been enjoying over the past few days:
Low - I Could Live In Hope Beautiful album, not their best but it's up there. Tindersticks - Second Album Listened to it three times so far and I'm enjoying it a lot. Got their first album downloading right now. Native Nod - Today Puberty, Tomorrow The World Amazing angular hardcore album, from the early-mid 90s band. One of my favourite emo bands, for sure. They only recorded 9 songs but they're all top notch. The Gun Club - Fire Of Love A band I don't listen to nearly enough, they're just awesome. |

To each his own. At least I still find them both at least great. And I will admit that COTE has the best individual song, "The Manifold Curiosity". I'll have to see how Coyote stacks up after even more time. I did get it when it first came out, but I could still falter on it some day.
Also, if that's an "8105" lyric in your signature, you're my hero! |

Anyways... An album I'm digging as of late: John Fahey - The Great Santa Barbara Oil Slick RYM review: http://rateyourmusic.com/collection/...rating30536822 That's a long-ish one, so in summary: He captures everything I love about guitar, his on-stage persona is fabulous, and the flow between each consecutive track, whether technical or simple, is beyond words. |
