Hahaa  That's so great! We're like polar opposites. I just love that the early stuff was so damn dark. I think the main thing is that the early pioneers really believed in what they were doing. I mean how many bands were dressing up in corpse paint and singing about satan? There's just a sort of feeling I get from listening to that stuff that I don't get much from the modern stuff.
Although Sortsind is relatively new (late 90s) and they're my absolute favorite Black Metal band. So it's not like I hate ALL new stuff and love ALL old stuff. There's just a certain feeling in some Black Metal records that I love. It's hard to say about the Post Black Metal/Shoegaze scene. I think the more open minded listeners (like me) welcome it. I could see if some didn't enjoy it but Noktu is an ass for completely disparaging a whole genre. I mean really. Shoe gayze? Come on. |

Jenny Owen Youngs = Transmitter Failure |
Now listening to Temple of Low Men by Crowded House... quite possibly one of their greatest, most overlooked albums... great songs about guilt, remorse, infidelity, loneliness... utterly cuts to chase and describes the dark underbelly of human emotions and love...
