µ-Ziq vs. The Auteurs - The Auteurs vs µ-Ziq
Now this is interesting.
In his autobiography The Auteurs Luke Haines says that after touring for so long for the Now I'm A Cowboy album he was sick of it & hated the album. His record company wanted to put out a remix album of some of his stuff so Haines having heard a µ-Ziq album chose him to do it because he wanted the album to sound as crap as possible to reflect how much he now hated it
It's not actually that bad but the songs are totally unrecognisable from the original versions... which is what Haines wanted.

This is the only thing I've ever heard from The Auteurs. I always thought it was a collaboration with µ-Ziq, didn't realize it was a remix album. I like it though.

Another night rolls around, and it's more Arcade Fire for me... I officially love The Suburbs!

Loving this one
The Black Keys - Brothers

For their 6th or 7th studio output (I forget which), this is really good quality. I find most bands taper off before that many albums.

The production on this album is still way up there. Crunchy, solid, uncomplicated. Scott Ian is still the best Rhythm guitarist for me.

... Amazing album!

Indeed, great shit! I love Live at Budokan too. :band:

Mortifera - Vastiia Tenebrd Mortifera

It's a great listen but it's a shame knowing Noktu is such a huge ass. I don't wanna go off into a huge tangent but pretty much him and Niege worked together as Mortifera and as Niege went off on his own to develop the Shoegaze/Black Metal sound he bad mouthed him.

This guy is playing commercial rock music and I am playing Black Metal. The only common point is that we are both French. I think we must make the difference between what you call shoe gaze and Black Metal. The shoe ***ze may have been an influence for Alcest but it is far from being an influence for the rest of the French Black metal movement. Also shoegaze is a British music, we never had many shoegaze bands here. Alcest is just playing commercial music to please his myspace teenage listeners and his music label. Please do not compare us with him. It’s kind of insulting

Huh... interesting words from the man. I'm actually thinking of writing a story on this and what you have here is great stuff for me to use.

CanwllCorfe 08-08-2010 06:27 PM

Really? On what exactly? If it's on the Post Black Metal/Shoegaze movement.. then I will be floored.

LoathsomePete 08-08-2010 06:35 PM

Well maybe not just the shoegazy stuff from France, but I have noticed a big increase in higher rated Black Metal albums on Rate Your Music. It's kind of more going to be about seeing such a secular genre slowly becoming more widely known around the world, and what that may mean for the original intent of the music.

CanwllCorfe 08-08-2010 06:38 PM

Ahh okay. Well that still sounds awesome. Me and Black Metal go back. Although I have a rather large disdain for the newer stuff.. it's noticeably more commercial. I like the more lo-fi stuff. Bands like Gorgoroth are still pretty good but bands like Satyricon? Blechhhh
