That's a good thing, I didn't think American's would really know about them except for the odd few. I didn't know they were mentioned on High Fidelity? I must've missed that reference.. and I didn't know they were mentioned on 500 Days of Summer either. :(

Not so much Nickelback these days, thankfully. We get plenty hipsters running around, though. And country. The horrible kind.

But yeah, when a band I really like is mentioned in a movie I tend to notice. They put on "Seymour Stein" in their store near the beginning of High Fidelity and Jack Black did the whole thing about how it was depressing. In 500 Days of Summer the narrator mentioned Summer had used Belle and Sebastian lyrics for her quote in the yearbook.

I don't remember Jack Black talking about Belle & Sabastian. Maybe I didn't know about them then, same with 500 Days of Summer.

I may have to rewatch both and spot the references. I'm gonna get a 3rd B&S album, I like the other one I heard. They seem like a great band.

Belle & Sebastian - The Boy With The Aarab Strap

My first Belle & Sebastian, and it won't be my last. Catchy Indie-pop songs, lyrics that draw you in. One of the most pleasurable first listens of an album I've had in ages, well I say first listen.. it took about 3 for me to love it. Great album. Can't wait to listen to another B&S record.

Yes fantastic album! I only have 3 B&S albums at the moment but this is my favourite. I can't get enough of the title track and 'Rollercoaster Ride' :D

In Absentia - Porcupine Tree

This is a grower for me. when I first heard it i couldn't stand it - it sounded mediocre and commercial and the constant switching between heavy guitar and soft melodies bothered me. But i decided to give it a listen while i was out on a walk yesterday and it just clicked. definitely a keeper.

Blooming hell, I talk about them loads and nobody has ever downloaded anything. You mention them in AYD and two people download. Damn you CunningStunt.

Anyway this is what i've been digging. These are the albums I took on the 12 hour bus ride to Alton Towers. Old favourites.
